Nature Box + Other Healthy Food

Last year around this time I lost around 15-20 lbs. I dont consider myself fat or anything but it would be nice to tone back up. Since I moved back in August, it has been hard for me to find some kind of balance. I went from living with my mom and boyfriend to living with my dad and paying all the utilities. Since then, besides my job, my life has been different. I even started doing YouTube videos over blogging. Observing all of the conscious and sub-conscience changes is weird, actually. All of that aside, I am really trying lose weight again and tone back up!

I am a sucker for monthly subscription boxes. When I found out I could the Nature Box for $10 the first month as opposed to the normal $20, I decided to give it a shot! In the video I talk about my thoughts on it and taste all of the food.

Nature Box is kind of like Birch Box or the Glam Bag except in healthy food form. The thing that separates them {besides the fact you get food} is that you can actually pick out your snacks every month. It is nice to get some healthy snacks delivered to me. The more healthy snacks, the better in my opinion. I give the jest of it in the video, but I have a link for you guys to use in case you wanna try out the Nature Box for $10 the first month too!  Remember that you can cancel after the first month, which what I think I am going to do. It isnt because the snacks weren't tasty or unhealthy or anything like that. It's just that I have been dying to try Tera's Whey Protein Powder for over a year now and it is $20. That's where my "healthy food not from the grocery store fund" is going for April.

.

Try out the Nature Box yourself for $10 the first month here.

Since I have had this blog for over 3 years {it sounds crazy}, I figure I could feature some of my favorite healthy blog post's here to go with the video

Breakfast Smoothies and Meal Prepping {feat the Green Banana Split Smoothie}

Love Pink Skinny Cheesecake Bites

Skinny Fun-Fetti Cheesecake Dip

Blueberry Cheesecake Pudding Pops

Anti-Aging Weight Loss Beverage

I just realized that the majority of my healthy food blog post's have to do with cheesecake. I love cheesecake.

Have you guys tried the Nature Box?
Are any of you health food enthusiasts?
What is your favorite subscription box to get every month?

thanx for reading!

Health Food Store Haul + Other Healthy Habits

Hi!

If your familiar with #HowtobeHappyJanuary + My New's Resolutions, then you might now I am starting my healthy lifestyle again {sigh}. I did a blog post and a video about Keeping Organized, Saving Money, + Living the Dream  including how I am going after a healthy lifestyle and staying on the right track once and for all! Don't hold me to it, but prayers would be awesome (:

So, me and Alex went to the health food store in my area.
They were amazing. They had a great selection of things that you could buy in travel sizes so to speak.  That way, if you actually like that particular food you can go back and purchase the big size if you thought it was worth it. That's great because some stuff is really expensive! But what really made me love that place was how helpful the girls were who worked there. When it came time to check out, They gave us a bunch of free samples too!

Before I even start, I need to confess something to you guys something.
I usually do not like "health" food. I mean, quinoa is one of my favorite foods but as far as protein powders and things that are really, really, "healthy", I have a hard time getting into. I am just a normal girl who really enjoys unhealthy food. I am trying to find my way over to the healthy side and try new things. I have been making small changes for the past 2 years now and I have come a long way.

At the bottom, you will see a video! The video is more about each thing and more or less a haul I filmed a week or so ago. Now that I tried {almost} everything, I can give you my honest, humble opinion. Here we go :

Artisana Coconut Butter
$1.99
This was something I was so exited about! I always wanna try out coconut butter but at $20, it's too much money. Esp. if I don't even know if im going to like it! I seen they had this trial size of coconut butter with cacao and jumped on it. The directions say to "knead" the package. I am assuming that is because it needs warmed a little bit because it has coconut oil in it. Coconut oil will turn into a solid at 76 degrees and since I live in Ohio, room temp is lower then that right now. When coconut oil is solid, it is almost like it flocks together and it doesn't mesh well with other ingredients, which is what it did in this package. When I warmed it up a little bit by kneading it with my hands, it blended better and I noticed it had a more of a smoother texture. Either way I tried it, it tasted just like a Mounds Bar only a little less sweet (a Mounds bar is pretty sweet!) I really liked it. I used it on top of an apple once (yum).

I also made Almond Joy Oatmeal once with it!
I used Almonds, Shredded Coconut, Chocolate Chips, Coconut Oil and the sample of ArtisanaRaw Cacao Bliss Raw Chocolate Coconut Butter.

Mary's Gone Crackers
$5
aka the only cracker you should ever eat, according to Brenda from Lean Secrets.
By the way that girl has so many great, unique diet tips. If your looking to jump into a healthy lifestyle, Lean Secrets is a must! Anyways, about the crackers: they are actually really good! If you like sesame seeds, your going to love these. In my opinion, Sesame seeds are ok. I like the crackers better.

What I have been loving doing with these is:
adding a Laughing Cow Cheese Wedge, then adding a piece of Chicken (or some turkey) on top of that, then finishing it off with a squirt of hot sauce.

I need to buy another box of these soon just for that little recipe. It's so good. I can see why these are the only crackers your supposed to eat. Check out the 4 ingredients.

Spiru-Tein High Protein Energy Meal
$2 each
I needed non whey protein to do some baking with. I wanna make this chocolate cake so I bought a Chocolate one. The chocolate chip cookie dough was just too hard to pass up! I found a recipe using protein powder and egg whites alone to make cookies so I will be using the Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough one in that. I will be posting both of these here so be on the look out for them. Otherwise, I am not a fan of protein powder. I hate the gritty texture so I figure using them with baking may be a better way to go! I will let you know!

Green Superfood:
$1.47
Ok. I lied! Maybe I haven't tried everything yet. But, it seemed like something I could drink and I would be good until the next meal. There is nothing but good stuff in this baby. However, the lady at the Health Food Store said that this does have that gritty texture almost like protein powder but I am still willing to give this a go. I took a picture of the nutrition facts so you can see everything in it. This might be the healthiest thing ever.

Free Samples:

Stella Puppy Girl Health Food!
I am not a total snob about the things that Stella eats, honest. I just like to treat her if I can afford it + she has alopechia and needs more nutrients. Wanna now how much I paid for all 3 of these things? 88 cents!

Dog Food:
Free
Just a sample, but Stella seemed to like it. She loves the Rachel Ray food better though!

Sam's Yam's Treats:
35 cents
They are shaped like french fries! It came with 1 Veggie "Rawhide" and 2 Bichon "Fries". She seemed to like these too. They are all natural and are supposed to keep her teeth healthy and were a great price.

Breath-Less Fizzy:
45 cents
When I put it in her water, she examined it and sat with nose close to the bowl for like 2 minutes. Anytime she hears a fizzy drink, she gets weirded out, so to hear something fizz in her water was strange to her. After a couple of minutes, the fizz subsided and she actually really liked the water. She was drinking it constantly which leads me to believe that it may have a taste to it but I wasn't going to taste it to find out!

Stella's Healthy Regimen
Stella has been eating a dog food made by Rachel Ray called Just 6.
It has Just 6 Ingredients: Lamb Meal, Brown Rice, Ground Rice, Dried Beet Pulp, Poultry Fat, + Natural Chicken Flavor.
Stella loves it. The first time I gave it to her, she ate her food instead of begging off of me. Rare occurrence around here (haha!) It's around $10 for a regular sized bag.

I also give Stella some cottage cheese along with ground flax and ground skin + coat vitamin. She has alopecia and needs the nutrient's. If you have a dog and want to treat him/her, cottage cheese and flax is perfectly healthy!

Another Healthy Tip:
I really wanted to mention this little tip I got from ABAB Coach on Youtube. I have been making these little "healthy baggies" for the week. Here, I add my days worth of vitamins in them. That way, I dont have to guess if I took my vitamins for the day. Such an easy little fun thing!

I also like to add different things to each bag:
green tea
a piece of chocolate
E-Boost drink

I like this idea because now I will know where I am at in terms of getting my days worth of health benefits + it's fun to add a little treat too! The vitamins I have in there are the ones that I really need. Do some research and see which one's you need to the most, then make your own baggies. It's fun (:

In my bag, I have:
Physillium Husk:
It is just straight up fiber. Fiber is what keeps you full. You need to drink at least 8oz of water before you take this because it expands in your tummy and that is how you get full
 Milk Thistle:
If you drink alcohol or take any kind of pills (advil, whatever) this is good. It promotes healthy liver function
 B12:
It gives you energy.
 Biotin:
Good for your skin, nails, + hair.

Guilt Free Fruit Dip!

Keeping up with my promise that I made to myself- to stay on a healthy track, I am determined to find delicious recipes that will satisfy my sweet tooth. I have found so many good ones too!  Even though I have a million to share with you, I am just going to go with 2 greek yogurt dips. They are so easy to make. All you need is a spoon and a bowl- no blender or anything like that. They are delicious. They are healthy.

Up first is the favorite one in my house. I think nothing pairs better with it then strawberries, personally. My boyfriend actually likes to add some of it to his plain greek yogurt. Im sure we can find a bunch of different things to do with it.

Serving size is 2 tablespoons. 24 calories. 1 calorie from fat.

January Birchbox Review

Hey guys! So if your new and wondering why I am talking about last month's Birchbox, I will fill you in. I was a little tired of just hauling the boxes that I thought I could do more of a review and be much more beneficial to the blogging world. Instead of me talking about my expectations for the things in my box, I would have had enough time to try them out to see what I think. This is also a motivating factor for me to actually try everything in my box and use it to the last drop. Let's get started, shall we?

Stila Smudge Stick Waterproof Eyeliner in Moray: ($20) Stila is quickly becoming my favorite high end brand and this product did not disappoint! The only color liner I use is black- for the most part, anyway.. I really don't like brown and I will try purple every once in a while on my lid but my waterline is always black. This liner is really unique. A really dark greenish color with green specks of glitter in it. I find it is a great alternative to brown for me. When im in the mood for something different, this has been fitting the bill. I do find that it can start to smudge off of the water line after a few hours.  It goes on smoothly on the lid, and doesn't really budge there once applied.

However, I do have one complaint! It is really hard to twist up and once it is twisted up, you cannot put it back down. When I first received it, I immediately called Birchbox to let them know I got the liner tube and package, but no liner. I felt really stupid even admitting it to the B-box rep. She then made me feel better telling me they had the issue of twisting the liner up and even went so far to tell me they had to call Stila to ask how to use the liner. Was she just trying to be nice? I don't think so......maybe? Whatever, once I figured out how to use it, it was good to go from there. It can be a pain from time to time though.

Jouer Body Butter: ($32) I think if anybody were to own this body butter, it would be Lisa Vanderpump. It is extremely luxurious considering it's nice frosted glass packaging, extremely creamy consistency, and light, floral scent. I think this was nice to sample because I am so used to my overbearing, so-good-you-can-eat-it Bath & Body Works butters (which I love) I never really go for anything else. I probably will not be re-purchasing it because B&BW is easier to access and easier on the wallet. I do feel rich when I have Jouer's on though. I am probably not making any sense. These are my weird thoughts. If I can help just person with this paragraph, I have done my duty (: On a more mature note, I do want to mention that, out of any body butter's I have ever tried, this one is the least bit greasy. It is actually not greasy at all, as some butter's can be. I really love that the most about it. I don't get my keyboard all messy a minute or 2 after putting it on. It is just straight moisture. Im giving it a 5/5 because of that. It's just that price. ouch.

Borghese Curaforte Moisture Intensifier: ($67) I got my Birchbox around the same time my Proactiv Face Brush came and I started using them both and after a week or so, my skin wasn't reacting well. It just seemed red and irritated so I back off of both the Borghese Curaforte and the Face Brush for a day or so for my skin to go back to normal. When I brought both back in, my skin actually got better then before both of them and I was really pleased!

This stuff is not only meant to moisturize your skin,  "it also helps your other products sink in more deeply so that active ingredients can perform more effectively. As if that weren’t enough, the lightweight formula boosts skin smoothness and clarity." (birchbox.com)

So I have been putting this on after my Revitalizing Toner (Step 2) & Before my Repairing Treatment (Step 3) following the rule of applying the light product first, and heavier products after. The consistency of the Borghese Curaforte is a very runny serum. I found out that applying them in this order really made this stuff work 10x better! (Before hand I was apply the serum after all 3steps and I didn't notice much of a difference) First off, it really made my skin extremely soft. What I mean by soft is I used to have very small pimples that would never go away and it has smoothed them out to what are becoming non-existent. I also do think it is helping my other products (Proactiv, esp. step 3) work even more effectively. I do have acne prone skin and Proactiv has always made my skin manageable, but with this added in my skin is even better. I have really liked this stuff.

Here's an awesome article about How To Layer Skin Care I found on Birchbox.com

LaraBar in Chocolate Peanut Butter: I like Larabar's, but don't love them. I am not a fan of alot of nuts and such. This bar was the best bar I have ever had! I ate it in the middle of the night and the next day went to my local health food store to see if they had any of the flavor in stock...they didn't. They asked if I wanted to buy a whole box of the flavor for $30 (16 bars) that they would order for me. I can't spend $30 on freaking Larabars, but wish I could have. I don't have an original picture to show you, I hope this one will do. credit

Juicy Couture Viva La Juicy: I thought it was a really nice fragrance. This is right up my alley. If you guys like a fresh summer time scent, you'll love it. I am just going to read right off of the package for the description:
~
Wild Berries & Mandarin.
Honeysuckle, Gardenia, & Jasmine.
(^^would go perfect with Jouer body butter!^^)
Amber, Caramel, Vanilla,
Sandalwood, & Praline.
~

There's my birchbox from Jan in review form. I do hope you guys like this type of take on it. For the most part, I usually love everything in my birchbox. Maybe not everything is a total hit but I usually like the majority of my box. Last month I really loved everything. be on the look out for this months (feb) birchbox post, next month! So far, im not really impressed but I will fill you in soon enough!

Have you guys had a chance to try everything in your box? What do you think?

thank you guys for reading!

yours truly,
Erica

Healthy Contest! Whose With Me This Year?

So for this year, I really wanted to start with a bang!  I want to make a really big effort to stay on a healthy track and make healthier choices. Here's a few food's to take into consideration before you start eating them because they do contain toxins and some even deplete your body of vital nutrients.

Foods to Avoid
-Dairy Foods: except for whey and low-fat yogurt.
-Gluten Foods: Rye, Wheat, Barley
-Caffeine
-Soda Pop
-Alcohol
-Refined Carbs: Pastries, White Rice
-Trans & Hydrogenated Fats: They are found in both fried & processed foods
-Red Meat
-Salt
I know it isn't realistic of me to say I am going to steer clear of all of these foods for the rest of my life. I am going to try my best from here on out but for my juice week I will be following all of these guidelines.

Superfoods to Eat
-Seeds: of any kind. They are all packed with protein, fiber, & good fats. Try to include 1 tablespoon daily in any juice.
-Psyllium: another great source of fiber. Put one 1 teaspoon in your juice or water each day
-Probiotic Powders: A beneficial bacteria. Find one that contains Lactobacillus Acidophilus & Bifidobacteria. Follow the dosage on the bottle
-Glutamine Powder:  1 teaspoon  in a juice or water every night before bed to help reduce number of toxins entering your blood stream.
-Superfood & Antioxidant Powders: to provide yourself with extra nutrients. 1 teaspoon in your juice a day

Perks of the Contest:
-If you wanna enter, leave a comment and let me know. I made a forum just so we can all keep in touch daily. Click here to head over there! that way we can all contact each other daily to let each other know our progress and new healthy discoveries. I think it is a great way to help us stay in check. If you don't wanna do that, then keep a journal to keep yourself in check and reflect on your progress
-Every week, I will post a new recipe I have tried along with pictures, here on Meet Makeup, & also talk about my progress. If you wanna join I think it would be cool that you guys do the same weekly

-Try to stay active 2x a day! Even if your 2 things in 1 day are going for a slow walk and shopping then youv'e done your job. I personally like to dedicate 1 for cardio and 1 for strength each day. Remember to dedicate 1 day to active rest (ex: cleaning the house)
-If we can keep this going until February, that would be awesome! If it goes longer, that's great too! The whole point of the forum and the contest is to make sure we make it a lifestyle change as opposed to a "diet"

**You don't have to follow any of these obviously you can do what ever you like. What ever that may be, good luck on your healthy journey (:**

Light Healthy Lunch Idea(s)

So recently I have been experimenting with different snack's or light lunches I could eat that are healthy so I can stick to my healthy lifestyle. The first one im going to talk about is sweet, savory, creamy, juicy & crunchy: all matching up to create a perfect snack. High in fiber, calcium, & vitamin c. I think it's a great lunch idea because it's high in Vitamin B-6 which is what gives you energy.

So what I did was layered the following:

Cracked Pepper and Olive Oil Triscuits - 120 calories & 35 calories from fat in one serving. 1 serving is 6 crackers. You can use your favorite triscuit's but the nutrition facts might be different. I love these ones because they have a little bite to them from the pepper.

-Good Points: Has 8% iron & 12% dietary fiber. (this is based on a 2000c. diet.) It also has no sugars or cholesterol.

-Bad Points: I feel it's a little high in sodium at 135mg. I dont know what that means, all I know is that on the nutrition label, that is highest number. Something tells me that's not good. 120 calories seems like a lot for only 6 crackers. That's why this lunch is perfect because when you layer everything up, your not going to feel like you wanna eat the whole box of triscuits.

Laughing Cow Garlic & Herb Cheese Wedge
again, feel free to use your favorite flavor. If you have never had these cheese wedges, they are basically like cream cheese. One wedge is 35 calories & 10 calories from fat. Not bad.

-Good Points: They have 8% of your daily calcium intake and has 0 grams trans fat. It also has 2% Vitamin A.

-Bad Points: They have 5 mg cholesterol and 210 mg. sodium. again, the highest number on the label

Bartlet Pears  -any pears will do.

-Good Points: This is going to be where you can get your Vitamin B-6, which is where you get energy. Pears also have 3.1g. of your dietary fiber. Obviously they are high in vitamin c. Lots of Vitamin A too-

-Bad Points: Even though pears are around 100 calories a piece, I don't think that is necessarily bad because there aren't any "bad" calories in them. Calories are basically just energy. So there aren't any reason's to not eat a pear.

The muffin you see on my plate is an On-the-Go Banana Walnut Muffin from Eye It Try It. They are pretty freaking good. I recently bought whole wheat flour so this was the first thing I made with it. I added some dark chocolate pieces in place of the cacao nibs which I light weight regret because I feel like it took away from some of that bran-muffin flavor. Along with some "I cant believe its not butter" butter, it makes a perfect snack. Or even a breakfast muffin.
You see that little walnut sticking right outta the top of the muffin?! The muffin has a boner.

Whole wheat is better for you than white flour because it isn't as processed as the white flour. (white flour is bleached to make it white.) When they process white flour, all of the nutrients are basically stripped out of it. Whole wheat are complex carbs, which take longer to break down in your system, causing you to be fuller, longer. Because they take longer to break down they also don't just become fat on your body. Complex carbs are whole grain.

Other Examples of Complex Carbs: quinoa, oats, cereal (whole grain), brown rice, whole wheat pasta.

So there's my 2 cents on a healthy lunch idea (or a snack) & why complex carbs are better for you. I think this could also be a great before workout snack, since it gives you energy and all. I wanna know what are your idea's for a healthy snack or lunch? tell me in the comments! Thanx for reading!

This Week in Pictures...

Exfoliator- I usually always use an exfoliator and this week is no exception! I have been loving my scrubbies! Lately I have had a lot of dead skin. I think it's because it is getting cold (damn) here in Ohio. I love the Hawaii Coconut one because it does create soapy bubbles and it is creamy. There's isnt anything like C.O. Bigelow's Lemon Body Scrub just because it is a true exfoliator. They both work great, and I got both of them at Bath & Body Works.

Fall Candles- I am loving the new candles that they have! My favorite one (besides the coconut leaves one- it smells so fresh, really watery if that makes sense, and coconuty!) is this Marshmallow Fireside one. They had a s'mores one as well but I just liked this one much better. The scent is warm with a musky note, sweet, and a bit spicy. The leaves one and the kitchen spice one were a little too spicy for me, so if you like spicy scents w/ sweet mixed in, you have got check this one out

DIY Hot Chocolate. We had marshmallows left over from our bonfire so I thought U would put them to good use. Here's my DIY Hot Chocolate Recipe: This recipe is both healthy and cocoa powder is good for you. It has a bunch of antioxidants so by all means, sip away!
  • 1 part Hershey's Cocoa Powder
  • 1 part coffee creamer (in Sweet Italian Cream! yum!!)
  • half part sugar
  • dash of salt
  • 5 parts heated milk
  • a couple huge marshmallows

Reading-
So im almost done with Jenna Jameson's How to Make Love Like A Pornstar- quite long but for the most part, a pretty great story. It's her autobiography and if your not offended easily, I would say it's a pretty good read.

Instant Feng Shui As you know, I went to school for Architectural & Interiors and I did a report a few years back on Feng Shui, so I bought some feng shui books. I popped them back out of my book shelf just because it has been a while since I read them ('07)- I love feng shui & interiors, for that matter.

Each Day a New Beginning- This is a meditation book which has daily reads that your supposed to read at the beginning of each day to give you some sort of motivation. I love meditation books! This one, out of all of them that I have, is my favorite. This one is for women. It is a great daily read. So inspirational and if im having a bad day, I always think back to my daily read I read that morning. Out of any of the books I mentioned- this one is the best

The Sims 3- If you don't play the Sims- you need to! It is Barbies for grown ups- Im a huge Sims buff....if there ever was such a thing haha

Rivals- This isnt a picture but I have become obsessed-
-I think it's safe to say I am a little obsessed with this show! I have always been a huge fan but I just recently found (& joined) a forum for all things RW/RR Challenge related!
-I have also been watching the pod cast that Robin & Katie host live on thursdays. The podcast is really cool because it's like something you would see on you-tube. Cast members skyping about the show.
-And oh yeah....I have kinda been watching old Challenges from years ago on you-tube- yeah, im pretty obsessed

what have you guys been loving??

1 Week in Diet & Exercise

Ok so im sure you guys know that I love photography, and if you don't well know you do!! Anyways, I love WeHeartIt and I typed "Fitness" into search it on WeHeartIt and this is what I found. These help me probably more than any other health regimen does just because these are so pretty. I am more of visual kind of person I guess- if you are visual like myself, then I hope these will help you as much as me! I think I may create little pictures like this to fit my own lifestyle. For now, these will do

So yeah I just think it is a really fun (& different) way to amp up your diet and exercise and stay on track while also rewarding yourself (: notice how there is only 6 days? i like it- I know, for me, I need to know that I am working hard for that 1 day a week break

So what do you guys think, gunna try any of these suggestions?

Skinny Bitches

hey guys happy August! I dont know about you but I don't want summer to end at all! I have been trying to keep up with my healthy habits and although it is pretty hard at times, I have actually manged to do pretty good lately! I have been eating good & I have been exercising (but not enough, honestly! I need 2 jump on that!) One weakness I do have is desserts & sweets! So I have seen desserts like this all over the internet but everyone else uses yogurt. I love yogurt but this cheesecake pudding  is so freakin good! I can honestly say that if I ordered this from any restaurant-  I would be happy. Here's what I used:

-Jell-O Cheesecake Pudding Mix - The best part of this pudding? fat free & sugar free.
not necessarily good for you because has no nutritional value, but also not the worst! Works for me!

Strawberries (I put like 2-3 & also cut mine up) & Blueberries (handful or so)
  • high in antioxidants
  • high in vitamin C

Kashi Cocoa Beach Granola Cereal (I have yet to eat it as cereal, I love sprinkling it on yogurt and the like) this stuff has:
  • Good Fats—300mg Omega 3
  • Whole Grains—over two—thirds of your daily needs
  • High Fiber—25% of your daily fiber needs*
  • All Natural—No preservatives or artificial sweeteners and flavors

The cheesecake Jell-O Is even good as a fruit dip- I have been dipping everything into it- yum yum

For anyone that has read Skinny Bitches, you will know that those girls are vegan so this does have milk in it (in the pudding). I personally try to stay away from red meat so if your vegetarian, & not vegan,  this is an excellent dessert- I hope you guys enjoy

I also have been finding so many delicious, healthy, (& cheap!) things at the grocery store and if you want me to share them with you, comment below! (if not, I just might anyway haha!)

So I wanna know: do you guys exercise & try to eat healthy too? Have any tips for the rest of us?

also I wanna know: what do you buys think of my recent blog page face lift? also do you guys like the wider page or no?

1 more thing! Don't forget to vote in the poll for your fav. summer/spring trend if you haven't already! (located at the top of the right sidebar) Once that is over I want to talk about all of the fall trends!

Thanx for reading & Happy eating!

Vitamins: Healthy Habits

****this was written in march of this year- here's a link of where it should be! I was changing the label on this post and it just re-posted it self and didnt go back like it usually does to the day it was written!****

hey everyone! If you dont know, MSodaPop posted something on her blog called "The Healthy Journey" & for anyone who wants to join us comment below!

Quick "Rules"
-8 glasses of water a day
-Eat healthy
-Exercise
-Motivate &  Communicate about how our day went

Now here's my whole thing on The Healthy Journey. I decided to join along because I have gained like 30 pounds in a year, I know that doesn't sounds like much. There was a time in my life that i used  to work out every day and be some-what healthy and I would like to get back to that. My weight gain is not healthy. I feel really tired in the morning and all day and I want to be able to feel good in my bikini. So I have been eating healthy, Lots of Fruits and Veggies, I will post some great recipes, & different work-outs that I have been loving, but this post is all about the Vitamins I have been taking
-Vitamins I Have Been Taking:

Milk Thistle: This is good for your liver. If you drink alcohol at all, this would be the go-to vitamin. It is to keep your liver healthy.

Women's One A Day- It has %50 of your daily Vitamin A intake (or at least how much Vitamin A you should have) Also has as much C, D3, & E  you should have daily, along with some other supplements but it also has Niacin in it and Niacin is actually a diet type of supplement.

-Vitamins I want to Take:

Quick Trim: For every 1 lb you work off, Quick Trim goes that mile and you actually work off two. I would love to try it!

Muscle Milk: I dont know if the Muscle Milk works against the Quick Trim I would like to check into that, but the Muscle Milk is supposed to be taken (or drank) after a strength work-out. All of that work you just did makes your muscles thirsty for lack of a better word

Fish Oil- This is actually supposed to help you lose weight along with a healthy diet. It has Omega 3 Fatty Acids & are not only good for weight loss, but are good for arthritis, anti-aging, helps reduce inflammation ex: Alzheimer's & Psoriasis. It also helps with sight. I just want to try it because it will help you shed pounds but the extra benefits are added in bonuses!

Prenatal Vitamin- Hence the name, they are for pregnant women but they do help your hair grow faster and makes it shinier and healthier. They also are good for nails. They help your nails grow quicker & longer and have a reputation for strengthening your nails

Updates on the healthy journey - I have been doing quite well but for some reason I cant seem to break my addiction to Pop! (soda for all you non-Ohioan-natives) I love Pepsi and it's like I crave it and im not satisfied until I get a sip a pop! But besides that so far so good for me.Some food ive been eating:
Breakfast: Oatmeal w/fruit

Turkey sandwich, alfalfa sprouts, baby bell cheese on wheat bread.
(It tastes just like Jimmy John's)

Dinner- Tuna mixed w/hummus, little greek yogurt, a hard-boiled egg salt, pepper, and some other seasoning on special K crackers

Dessert- Greek Yogurt w/truvia and some fruit

Vitamins ive been taking: (im not a Dr. these are just what I have been taking)

Vitamin E- It's a powerful antioxidant and is going to help with premature aging of cells! You really cant go wrong with E its good for your brain, heart, respiratory system, breast health, and also helps with PMS too! Also if you have seen the Cool Idea/Ice Facial post, she talks about putting it (along with some green tea) on your face- it's gunna make your skin nice as well.

P.S. I am not a Vitamin expert, but I have done the research and (a) these are things that I have found out about each supplement and (b) I have been taking these and these are just my own opinions and facts about how they make ME feel. Thanx For reading! xoxox

Candy Bars....that are Healthy?! -Grocery Shopping Ideas

Do you love sweets? candy? chocolate? ice cream? but you wanna fit into that bikini on monday, don't you?  so what should you do? cave and go crazy on junk? or should you eat healthy food and skip the sweets? You don't have to choose anymore....I have found the ultimate junk food/good for you list! Some of you may know if you visit my blog regularly, as of about 4 months ago I started trying to eat alot healthier and exercising on a daily basis I have really found some great foods- a lot of these are even better than any other dessert...without A Million Calories!

  • Oreo Dipped Delight Bars- I usually dont really care for Oreo's but these could be mistaken for a candy bar that would rival a Snicker's any day...they are literally delicious about only 100 calories! Ok so not exactly an actual candy bar but if I fed you this along with a milky way you wouldn't know the difference! The cream in it isnt reminiscent of the original Oreo- it is much gooey-er and hits my sweet tooth harder *and* did I mention only 100 calories? where can you find these? I find them in my diet/health food section
**Please dont mind my un-personal images! my mom took the camera, so I found these online! Boo!**

  • Cheesecake bars- Wow! they are hard to explain, but they are really delicious. It does remind me of cheesecake! - again only 100 calories with these. where can you find these? I find them in my diet/health food section. Usually they have a deal like 2 for $5 so you can grab these and the Oreo bars together.

  • Skinny Cow Truffle Bars- although these are expensive at around $6-7 and if you like Italian gelato and would pay that much for it then I suggest you try these out. The hard chocolate that is drizzled on the bar melts in your mouth- they are much creamier than ice cream- My favorite on the list are these! where can you find these? I can only find these in half of the grocery stores I go to, but I have seen them in many Wal-Green's- so that much is true! and trust me guys, they are worth the hunt

    • Another delicious snack is Cottage Cheese and throw some Peaches on your Cottage Cheese- I am not talking about that cottage cheese that grows on the legs (trust me I have plenty of it!) who dosen't like Peaches and Cream? and yah never know the more cottage cheese you eat, the less you will have growing off of your body!

    • Gushers- Love these & im sure you all know what they are but instead of the starburst with no nutritional value, Gusher's are a low calorie treat, low fat, and are actually high in Vitamin C. you know that stuff that gushes out? that is actually fruit juice concentrated from pears!

      • Angel Food Cake- there are 0 grams trans fat in Angel Food cake plus it is delicious especially with fruit of your choice on top. I think Strawberries go great with Angel Food Cake!

        • String Cheese! yum! nothing like a string cheese to make my day a little more whimsical and make me feel like a kid! There are 80 calories in each stick but the calories from fat are around 50...not a good look for string cheese but you do need dairy daily! so honestly, its better than a cheese steak! right?

        • Edy's Creamy Coconut Bars- 120 calories per bar with 25 calories from fat also have 3 (mg) protein and %8 calcium...after all of the boring stats about the coconut bars I need to tell you that is you like coconut..and creamy goodness...these are going to be your new bestie!

          • Lastly, I love banana's I usually eat one a day and I found this nice good for you snack along with recipe:
          • Break 1 graham cracker square into 2 rectangles.Top each piece with 1/4 teaspoon Nutella. (Nutella is a hazelnut spread made out of natural ingredients.) Then slice a banana and sprinkle toasted shredded coconut. Makes: 1 serving Per serving: 71 calories. What you get: Potassium.

          • While hunting for these pictures online I found a blog that offers a Clean Eating Recipe Index wow this list is long and has food for every and any body! If your on a healthy journey like me..click that link!
