My Favorite Fall Outfit

So lately I have been into fashion more so than makeup. You ever get into those moods? I got my Philip Lim bag on my birthday from Philly {thank you Philly!}. After that, I found some really good deals at JC Penneys. I have been wearing a variation of this outfit a couple times a week. I play it out.

So, I bought a tri-pod and thought this was the perfect time to do an OOTD- video style. Philly usually helps me with my photos for my OOTD's but he hasn't been around as much as he used to be. So it was up to me to make it all happen. A one women show around here. I wish I had some better shots in picture form. But my thumbnail is even a screen shot. Regardless, I think it turned out pretty good. It's my best one yet if you don't mind me saying so.

OOTD:
Autumn Beach Breeze

Boots: Old Navy: $12
Jeggings: JC Penney's: $12 (still in stores)
Shirt: JC Penney's: $7 (still in stores)
Fitted Blazer: Body Central: $10
Lion Head Necklace: Charlotte Russe: $5 (still in stores)

I really love the way the over-sized super casual tee shirt looks with the fitted blazer. I think since it is fitted, it gives it a more relaxed look that pairs well something more casual- like the tee. The jeggings are a cool toned taupe color. They are so pretty! Is that weird to call jeggings pretty? They are stretchy and really comfortable for a day of shopping or running errands. I bought the boots at old Navy last year after Christmas. If your shopping for yourself, I recommend waiting it out until after Christmas, especially at Old Navy. They start marking things down to like %90 off. Including boots and shoes. To give the outfit a little bit of attention I thought the Lion Head necklace was perfect. It gives it just enough.

I usually buy 2 bags every year. One in the spring and one in the fall. I will wear this bag with any outfit, but i think it looks especially cute with thie particular OOTD. To go hand in hand with my OOTD, I filmed a "What's in my Bag Tag"

OOTD: Easy {Like Sunday Morning}

Ok so yesterday was Sunday. It doesn't really matter because this outfit is easy like...scrambled eggs....a walk on the beach.....Sunday morning.....or Monday afternoon. Except this Monday isn't really easy. I am in the middle of moving today. At least my outfit is easy today.

This outfit is 1 monochromatic piece of fabric other wise known as a romper. To make it interesting, they added a tribal/aztec type of print. I like that because it isn't neither too plain nor too busy. You can easily add different piece's of jewelry to go with this outfit, like so. I really liked playing with the different color accessories to give it some color. Hence the orange bracelet and the mint bra strap. I'm not saying I am the most formal and classy when it comes to OOTD's or outfit's in general. This is just me. Besides, it is totally trendy to have bra's and bandeau's showing these days.

thank god

Another addition to my outfit's every single day, is the hair tie on ma' wrist. It is what it is. Some other things on my wrist include a gold stretch bracelet and a cross stretch bracelet both seen here. The orange bracelet with the gold beading is from Trisha's Treasure Chest. It has been my favorite lately. I got it for free when I ordered those sweet sunglasses. I love those things. I know they are not for everyone. You either love them or you hate them. They look upside down and I would say they throw back the 50's, 60's or 70's. One of those era's. What do you guys think of them? If your wondering, those sunglasses are the pink ones on her site. Not a crazy pink, they look rather nude.

The necklace was previously seen here. This is another favorite. Whenever I don't know what to wear on my neck, I always go for it. It lays at the perfect length. It is easy. It isn't heavy or a huge fuss. It has a simple design, a feather, but has some cute white bead detailing on the feather. I also really love that the feather isn't actually a charm you can take on and off. It is attached to the chain and it lays horizontally as opposed to vertically. I notice weird things like that.

If there is one thing that isn't easy about my outfit, it would be the fact that I always put it on backwards. The straps hang really low. I apologize I didn't get a better shot of the back of the outfit, but take my word for it:  it is loose and the straps criss cross. That combination always messes me up on my first try of putting it on.

Have you seen my last OOTD? OMG I swear I wear it like twice a week. Check it out!

What do you guys think of the sunglasses?
Love them or hate them?

Boho{mian} Rhapsody || OOTD

On a summer day in Ohio, it is seriously humid. I mean, really. So when it comes to summer fashion, I look for something to wear that is hip and visually pleasing, but also wants something that gives me room to breathe. Fresh and On-Trend, if you will.

Being comfortable in such a humid climate usually means not a ton of jewelry. A few pieces always bring an outfit together, in my opinion. As for this look, I have nothing on but a necklace. {and a hair tie...and a head piece} I could grab a bracelet or two to help this look even more. But this is real, people. I didn't wear any that day and that is just the way it goes sometimes.

The dress is the main star of the show. A ruffle tier baby doll dress, I have been wearing it over my bathing suit as well as day to day. The oatmeal cartigan is really thin with a reverse mullet style shape. I think the cardigan adds that extra boho feel to it, as the dress is loosely fitted. To add some kind of color, I wore my Coral t-strap sandals with the gold detailing near the feet along with the gold bar going up the foot. So cute! Since coral and mint go hand in hand this season, my mint and silver panel necklace went perfect with my mint bra. The bra peeks through which I think, adds to the style and look I was going for. I could have went for a bandeau to peek through, but I thought it was showing a little too much and those just don't fit my body type. The mint bra is decorative anyhow and tied everything together. It's weird to say a bra tied my outfit together, but it's true!

To add an extra accessory without feeling tied down, I of course I had to wear the floral headpiece. Looking back, I wish I would have got a closer shot of the head piece. It has 1 rhinestone in the center of each flower. That's why I gravitated towards this particular head piece. It adds a little bit of glam while still giving a nod to the summer of 1969. {hey that's an unintentional Bryan Adams reference} It is made to be worn as is. I tried to wear it as a headband but it is too loose. So if your looking for something like this, check out Tilly's!

Wedding OOTD // OOTN // Brides OOTN // The Wedding Experiene.

As you may know, I went to an amazing wedding a couple of weeks ago. Alex and I went with my good friend Donny to Ashileena's wedding. I met Ashley through Alex right after high school and the three of us were really close. When I was in college, Ashley and I were inseparable. Donny was also with Ashley and I a lot of that time in college. We had a really close group of friends and when I went to Las Vegas, it seemed as if everyone went their separate ways. All but Ashley. I would come back to visit and hang out with her the whole time I was in town from Las Vegas. Cut to today, I haven't seen Ashley in what had been a couple years! We really hope to change that though because we had a freaking blast! Her baby Mia and husband Darren are both awesome.

Let me take you through the day.....

Alex, Donny, + I all met up at my house in our Sunday's best.

We took some pictures outside. Thanks to Donny, I got some pretty good OOTD's photos.

{{**edit. I would have loved to show you the pictures of all of us, but my computer crashed and all of my pictures I didn't upload to FB or MBB were GONE. Dang it!}}

Ruffle Floral Top: Body Central
Mint Fitted Blazer: Body Central
Coral Maxi Skirt:Wet Seal
Coral Sandals with Gold Detailing: Body Central
Scarf: Charlotte Russe
Sunglasses: Tilly's
I love this maxi skirt. I just love the way it moves.
Then we got to the wedding just in time to see Ashley and Darren walk out of the church. She looked so beautiful. This was a perfect time for a photo-opportunity . Her dress was so nice. Cupcake style. Too bad I have no photos. Moving on....

Afterward, Alex went home to change and Donny and I got the party started! We decided to go to a local beer place. Turns out, this place has one of the biggest selections of beer in the US. Right down the street from me. Why didn't I know about this place? You can go in and fill up a six-pack of different flavors of beers, or you can drink them in the bar. They had one called Banana Bread I wanted to try, but I opted out for:

Coconut Flavored. Although I didn't really taste the coconut.
It tasted like white wine mixed with juice. It was pretty amazing.

Donny looks so cute in this one:

Then Alex came back to my house and we drove to the reception. The reception hall was awesome. The chandeliers were big and blingy, I actually felt formal for the night .

my 2nd OOTN:
All I did was changed my top and skirt, and put on a romper from Body Central.

Then, it was time to get on the party bus!!

We were headed to downtown Youngstown. My downtown has a ton of bars and restaurants for any type of person. They have a thrift-store-by-day fashion-show-by-night with BYOB place, A luncheon place that turns into a really cool bar with an open mic at night. I once saw a girl play violin, a guy tap dance, and and another free style all at once. It was pretty sweet. They have a martini bar, a hip hop dance club, a bar with live music, and a few more dive's. We started out at 9ine {dance club} and just cruised the rest of the bars and clubs. So yeah, good times.

Ashley and Alex on the bus, talking and laughing. I love this picture. They are so cute!

Me // Ryan // Darren // ??

 Donny

I took all of these while I had too much...Forgive me?

The night ended at Ashileena's and Darren's house. Phil was such a doll and picked Donny and I up from their house about an hour away to take us back to Youngstown.

We had a blast! Thank you to Ashley and Darren for such a spectacular night and for inviting me! I can't wait to get back together again! Congratulations pretty girl! I love you and I am so proud of you! You have a beautiful family and home and I was exited to be apart of your wedding day! I hope you guys renew yours vows some time really soon in the future so we can do it all over again!

I hope all of you MBB reader's enjoyed the blog post!

If you wanna see more, feel free to go to my facebook page.

even though I had the cutest collages I made on GIMP for this blog post, and my computer crashed so they were lost, it still turned out ok, right? no. I just like things a lot cuter for the blog. Whatever...

Wasn't the bride gorgeous?!

What I Got in My Easter Basket and Easter OOTD

So, how was your Easter?

Mine?
Was good!
Thank you for asking!

I woke up and noticed a basket of stuff on the dining room table. It didn't really look festive. I thought my mom was just cleaning, found some stuff, and put it in an old basket {which was my moms Easter basket when she was little}. Until I seen a bottle of Victoria's Secret body spray. I realized it was my Easter basket! It was so thoughtful of my mom to buy her full grown daughter an Easter basket! I haven't had one in ages!

PINK Warm and Cozy Body Spray my mom really nailed this scent. I like it a lot! It smells very cozy and has notes of vanilla and peony.

While at Victoria's Secret, my mom got me a pair of undies from the PINK line.

I also got a new bag! Funny story: The night before I went out to buy an Easter dress from Target {more on that in a minute} but instead bought a new purse. I wanted one that was smaller and I could throw around my shoulder and found an adorable bag. Now I have two new bags (: I feel spoiled! She ordered this one from Avon.

Lastly, my mom gifted me a set of 4 Camis. I almost bought a peach colored cami at Target the night before but ended up not purchasing it because it was $8 for 1 of them. Im glad I got one now. I also got a gorgeous emerald color {color of the year!}, a hot pink, and a navy blue one.

and now for my Outfit of the Day. It's the best I can do - in front of a mirror - when it comes to OOTD's. Maybe Phil will help with some in the next couple of weeks.

I almost bought this dress to wear for Easter from Target, but I knew it was going to rain so I backed out. I wish I would have though! I instead wore my favorite pair of pants with some other new things I bought. I will have a video up soon with my haul.
Do you notice Stella right behind my right hand? She has on her Easter dress too! And she was barking at my heels which is why her head is hanging off of the bed! haha!

We had plans for the Passion Play but as the day went on, nobody wanted to go anymore. I went to Phil's mom's for dinner and had a good time mingling. Phil and I came back to my place and drank some red wine {we are festive!} and rented Argo. I was expecting it to be better.

That was my Easter.

How was yours?
What did you do?
What did you wear?
Did you get a basket?

Fall Fashion 411 - Fall Trends Series 2012. Part 1

Remember my Fall Trends Series from 2011? Well! That took a lot of work and even though it was so much fun it was also tedious but I found that lots of people actually liked it & it was actually helpful. I already started hunting for new pieces of clothing for this year's trend series but I am not positive if im in it for the long haul. If that is something you would like to see, please let me know! If not, then it's going out the window! Plus, I am a little late on that anyways.

Think of this as a Fall Trend Series extension for 2012. As of the last 2 months or so, I did some damage with new clothes. One of the things I purchased from American Eagle while they were having their $30 jeans sale was a rhapsody colored pair of pants. Since Rhapsody is one of the Fall colors for 2012 on the Pantone color panel, I want to give you ideas on how to wear colored pants in a stylish way. You will be surprised at how many outfits you can make out of 1 pair of colored pants.

This blog post will be, for the most part, my humble opinion on ways to wear different colors and prints together.  In college, I took a fashion history class. Some of the things I learned in that class will be here too. Here are some easy guidelines to follow on ways to put a flattering outfit together in what you might think are surprising ways. I really hope a light bulb will go off in your head and you venture out into mixing colors & prints this season!

Exhibit A
Mixing a Color with a Neutral Print
Quite possibly the easiest one to figure out. Instead of wearing a colored shirt, go with a neutral print to match your colored jeans/pants. I like this because it is trendy without being too loud. You have your bird print (trendy!) with a peter pan collar (also trendy!) in black and cream.

JC Penney's top was $9!

Exhibit B
Mixing colors.
The easiest one in my opinion to feel like it doesn't fit. A basic rule of thumb to use when mixing colors: does it look appealing to you? If so, then your good! If you want more inspiration, here's a couple more tips:

#1. Pantone Color Panel:
The rule of thumb on any color panel is that every single color on the panel goes with every other color. Click to see Pantone's Fall 2012 Color Panel.

#2. Use the exact same color in different hues
Monochromatic color scheme
ex: light purple with bright purple*

#3. Use the exact same hue of different colors
ex: deep purple with deep orange*

#4. Using a Primary Color Scheme

Blue, Red and Yellow are the primary colors. All three look good in the same outfit*

#5. Using a Secondary Color Scheme
Same as primary colors, secondary colors pair great in an outfit. You could use all three: Orange, Green, & Purple.*

#6. Using a Triad Color Scheme

As easy as it sounds. Look to the color wheel. Which colors make a triangle in the wheel? You notice that both the primary colors and the secondary colors are in a triangle formation on the color wheel. This trick can be used with any colors on the color wheel.
ex: pink, green, & brown create a triad color scheme.*

#7. Using a Complementary Color Scheme
Whatever color is right across from your color is complementary of it.
ex: green and red are complementary.*

#8. Using an Analogous Color Scheme
Refer to the color wheel. Find your color. Either color next to it make all 3 analogous color. You can also split the color wheel into two parts and think of it as being warm colors (yellow through red) vs. cool colors (purple through green). With analogous color's, they could mix both warm and cool colors as well, overlapping each other. ex: your color is pink. Pink will go perfectly with blue and purple.*

My outfit would fall under the analogous color scheme. Both colors are next to each other on the color wheel. Just because they aren't the same hue or color doesn't mean they don't fit! I think the white undershirt makes the outfit a little brighter, but I also sometimes wear this with a dark purple undershirt. Another great idea would be to go with any blue colored undershirt.
If your looking to try this out, check out Wet Seal. They have basic tops, & tank tops in all different colors and some cute neutral prints. all 5 for only $20!

Exhibit C
Mixing 2 Colors with Prints

 Step #1. Choose your color.
Mine is the color Rhapsody in the jeans.

#2. Choose a print:
The same rule with mixing different colors. Mix different colors with the same hue-or- mix the same color with a different hue, 1 being a solid color and 1 being a print. I am choosing my leopard print scarf and that is a different color with the same muted, soft hue. The color of the scarf is called Rose Smoke, also from the Pantone Color Panel.

#3. Choose another print in the same print
You can omit this if you feel what you have is enough. If not, choosing a second print is as easy as pie. An example of what I mean by another print in the same print is this. Say your print is leopard (as mine is), find another article with a different leopard print on it, as I did with my leopard scarf and undershirt. They are both leopard print but not exact replica's of each other. In my opinion it adds interest without being too tacky

If your going with a second print, be sure not to over do with. I think the scarf going along with the undershirt isn't as loud as a blouse with a scarf, both being prints. It's too much in my opinion. A subtle pop of print here and there is nice. Another cute idea to add your print of choice would be in a leopard bow on a neutral pair of shoes.

#4 Complete the outfit:

I have a Titanium (a grey color) V-neck which completes the outfit. At this point, it's best to find some flattering neutral pieces to complete the outfit. Adding another print or color might not be in good taste so this, to me, is perfect.

With these "rules", the possibilities seem endless

So, Class!

How have you been mixing it up with your clothing lately?
Whats your favorite outfit in this post?
Whats your least favorite?
Is there anything else you would have done different?

disclaimer: Almost all of these "rules" are my opinion. I am not a professional. I did however take a fashion history class in college and did quite well! Some of these rules are what I learned in the class. They will be marked with an*. Basically, anything you read in exhibit B I learned in college.

Happy Mixing,
Erica

(first!)OOTH- Maxi Dress & Animal Print

Hey everybody! While going thru my camera and all of my pictures on the computer (Im sure I had well over 1,000 pictures on my computer) I sorted and organized all of them and I found this picture which I took on the 5th of May and forgot about it! so here's my OOTD.

I think this day me and my mom just went to lunch or something but I love this dress! I have been wearing it as a cover-up every time I go to the pool. I just love it, you slip it off, slip it on. I love wearing dresses because it looks like your really dressed up when actually your really not. So comfy! Maxi Dresses I think are my favorite trend for the summer

  • The dress is from Rainbow. It was somewhere around $17 I think.
  • The shoes are from JC Penney's. They were $30 on sale for $15. I love those shoes! They are from Olsenboye which is one of the Olsen twins clothing line. Well both of the Olsen twins own the company, but it's just one of their companies out 3? (I think)

I love Rainbow because they have the cutest clothes but the downfall to there stuff is you really do have to try everything on- I know I do. it looks nice on the rack but when you actually put it on your body it isnt complimenting any part of it! The dress is see-through. esp. the white parts of the dress. Luckily I had a slip (have no idea when/where/why I had one, but I did) so I put it on when I don't have a bathing suit underneath the dress.

Hope you enjoyed my first OOTD and it inspires you to do one also! Thanx for stopping by! -Erica
