A House Tour and a Ton of Simple DIY's and Super Quick Tip's

As you all know I moved and I have been shopping, DIYing and decorating like crazy! Here, I am going to give you a tour of my living room (in the video) and my room (through photos).

In the video, while I am showing my living room, I am taking you around and showing you all of the awesome deals I got on everything. I try not to buy expensive things. I also show you the makeup I got at Ulta and Lauren Conrad shoes I bought at Kohl's. They were around $70-something and I bought them for under $20! This was a really fun day and I hope you enjoy it too!

My room is the big room up in the attic. As you can tell, I don't have high ceilings. The shape of my room is in the form of what a roof looks like. I kinda like it like that. I think it adds character.

And Then There Was Light:
This is my bed where I sleep at night. I got the comforter for Christmas and even though it wouldn't be my first pick, it is really comfy and looks cute. I bought my actual bed in high school and never did buy a head board to go with it. So, I made my own head board with stringy lights I bought at 5+Below. I love the light it gives off, making it look dreamy. I also hate having the big light on in any room, especially my bedroom, and try to avoid it at all costs. These type of lights are perfect for me. They are the only lights I keep on in my room. I have a different style of stringy lights in my kitchen that are colorful. They're adorable. And it's so simple.

Jazz Up An End Table:
My end tables were my first decor venture in this house. The end tables you are seeing were from my mom's house. She kindly gave them to me. Thanks Mom! I especially like how this one has that shelf to put stuff on. I have a notebook underneath a decorative box I got from Target in the $1 section. I throw my junk in there: reading light, a pen, makeup remover, Pocket Bac, etc. It's great because it catches junk but also looks cute. Stylish and purpose-serving. The drawer isn't a drawer. It's actually a filing cabinet. I want to use it but haven't yet. The last thing I want to do is start throwing stuff in there without any plan, place, rhyme or reason. That is how clutter starts and that is how you lose things.

Cheap DIY:
On top of the end table's, I have my bouquet's I made for $6 a piece from Dollar Tree. You can buy different fake flowers there. Be creative and put together your own flower arrangement! I think it adds a special touch. Nobody else is going to have that exact bouquet. To help the flower's stand up, you can add decorative rocks. They had a few different colors at Dollar Tree. I preferred the clear non-colored one's. They also have fake water at Pat Catan's for around $10, but I like to have the option of changing out the flowers. That glass vase is also from Dollar Tree. To me, it looks classy and stylish but I didn't have to spend a bunch of money and I also got to create something.

Instead of hanging up my wall art (bought at Ikea years ago) and make more holes in the wall, I decided to simply set them on the end tables. I think it looks cute! They are a little out dated to me so I wanna do some kind of DIY with them but for now, they look cute and totally go with the purple floral print on the comforter. I also have some silver photo frame's to go with my cool toned room, and some cute tea light holder's I bought at 5+Below for $1 a piece. They are on sale right now 2 for $1!

Work With What You Got
My beauty dresser, as I never called it but-needed-some-type-of-name-to-differentiate-it-from-the-other-dresser, dresser. It was a surprise to me that the dresser which is darker wood went so well up against the cool toned off-purple walls. I quite like it. I made the nail polish rack myself. I bought the T-Bars at Pat Catan's {$4 and $10}. The bucket serves as another place to throw junk instead of having it laying out. My body spray's and lotions are sitting on an old candle tray I had lying around. Another Tip: Things that used to be used for one thing, could be used for something else completely another time around. I love that tip! Give something a new life.

The shelf I hung up has all the rest of my nail stuff. Manicure scissors, emory boards, that kind of stuff. I used an old candle jar from the small candle's from Bath and Body Works to store that stuff in. Told you! Give thing's a new life. And it even looks cute. Boom.

T.V. Dresser DIY
This is another piece of furniture from my mom's house. This actually matched my "beauty" dresser but I decided to paint it to go with the cool toned theme that is my room. I wanted an off white base with silver accented drawers and that is exactly what I got. It looked cute outside when I painted it but I am un-sure of it at this point. I feel like it may clash with itself and even then may clash with the walls. It works for now! Maybe it will be cuter when I get some drawer knobs on there. Whoops. Haven't got around to it yet. The Off White Color I used is a spray paint from Krylon called Ivory. I bought it at Wal-Mart for like $5 a piece. I used the same color base coat from the same brand. It was only $1 extra. That equaled 5 cans total, including the base coat. I have used a top coat before when spray painting furniture and found it served no purpose in the long run so I didn't use one this time around.

For the drawers, I used a metallic spray paint called Silver from the Metallic Collection by Krylon. It was also around $5 and I only used 1 can of this and even have some left over. This really sparkled outside in the day light and I am in love with this color/finish. It looks a little more toned down in the house. It does however reflect objects in my room, picking up those colors making it cohesive with the whole room. I am just not sure if it goes well with Ivory which is the color of the dresser itself. I used 3 coats for the drawers.

About Spray Painting:
I recommend spray painting furniture any day! Pick a spring or fall day where it is neither too humid or cold. It takes 10 minutes or less to do 1 coat and it takes 10 minutes for each coat to dry. Spray painting is goof proof. After the first coat you might be wishing you haven't even started it. It will look like you tried to tag up your piece of furniture but after that last coat, it looks even and opaque.

♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥
 The Closet:
I used to organize my clothes from tank tops all the way to hoodies and then assort them by color. Since there is no door, I wanted it to look a little more aesthetically pleasing so I went with every single piece being organized by the colors of the rainbow. ROY G BIV. It's harder to find things this way so I don't know if it is going to stay like this, but for now it works.

♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥

The Walls:

I really wanted to go with a neutral toned silver. I went for a paint called Simple Shimmer from the Metallics line from Valspar. I bought it at Lowe's. It is a pretty penny- literally. {metallic humor} With the special paint sponge/brush, base color, and the actual paint it cost me around $100. If I could do it again, I would have went with something else. You can kind of see the strokes from the paint roller too. For $100, it just isnt worth it. They had paint similar to this from Martha Stewart at Home Depot. If your dead set on a metallic or a shimmery finish, look to Home Depot. The wall directly behind me in this photo {the wall with the closet and beauty dresser} was only painted with the special base coat paint.  After doing this wall, I kind of liked the way the base color looked and it was way less work. Luckily, we still have some left of each paint can so I need to come up with another project to play around with. You better believe I am not letting it go to waste!

♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥

Computer Desk:
I painted this with the same method as my T.V. dresser. Only when I painted this, I used a top coat and sanded the whole entire thing. Seriously, an unfruitful venture in the worst way. This spray paint is by Krylon and the color is called Gum Drop. I used 4 cans of this but I think I could have went with less. I got a little paint happy lets just say. I painted this a couple years ago and I am not sure I would have chose this exact color to go with this room but I do actually think it work. In fact, I like it better than the T.V. dresser in this room which was thought out for this room exactly. Going with your gut isn't always the best option.

By the way, those pink drawers are from Target. I bought that for like $12 and they are also on sale right now for even cheaper. The drawers hold both my makeup and office supplies. Call me crazy but it works for me.

That is rule #1.
Find what works best for you. That's the best piece of advice I could ever give yah!

Writing all of this out made me think that it may have been better in a video form. I dunno. Whatever.

So let me know what you think!
What do these room's need more of?
How awesome is that mirror and those shoes?!

thank you for reading!

Broke Girls Gift Guide + DIY Gift Basket's (Part 1)

Here's the stuff I got for my Mom, Boyfriend, + Best Friend. I figured it would be helpful (or fun) to share all of the gifts I got. As you can tell by the title, I am a broke bitch! But, I know some pretty good ways to save money and make a nice gift out of a few little things. I never say "oh, everyone's budget is $X amount" To me, that's silly because if I can find a great deal that doesn't meet the exact budget, that's fine with me! Nobody is going to know exactly how much you spent on them. It's the thought that count's, people!

This time of the year, they have little gift baskets everywhere....boring! I don't know about you, but I like to make my own! it's so much more fun that way!

Gift #1:
To: Alex.
Alex is my long time best friend who shares the love of stuff with me. Meaning, when we get together we will look online for hours going from nail polish, to jewelry, to dog clothes, to recipes, to ornaments

The girl loves Hello Kitty and anything pink. I found the cookies with strawberry cream, the vanilla and raspberry cotton candy, & the cleansing hand wipes (sweetly scented) all at 5+Below.

Alex shares my love of beauty items, and I can't tell you how many times she has said she wanted a matte bronzer. I got one from Wet n Wild in Princess on sale at CVS. It looks more along the lines of a satin as opposed to a true matte. The good news is that there isn't any chunky, loud glitter.

She swears by the Sally Hansen nail strips and says they will last on your nails for 2 weeks. I found those at 5+Below as well.

She just recently moved into a house and is re-doing her room pink and black. The wall decals were perfect and I found those at Big Lots. I didn't realize until recently that they were chalkboard(s) and came with some chalk! How cute!

She really tries her best to stay on a healthy track. Last year, I bought my dad a juice and smoothie book and her and I sat around for like an hour writing all the recipes down, haha! Plus, I feel like when you have things like that that your exited to use and put into action, your more likely to do so and in turn stay healthy + reach your goals! Plus, she loves smoothies. Another 5+Below purchase.

The tumbler seemed to go hand in hand!  Not to mention, we are both always stealing each others cups to take with us on the go. One with a straw and lid is perfect on the go and something she actually needed. I found some other tumbler's at 5+Below and Wal-Mart but none were as cheap or as cute as this one. Here's to another great buy at Big Lots!

total= $24
Gift #2
To: Mom
Hardest to shop for. Good thing she gave me a small list I could refer to. The things on her list included Clinique foundation and lotion & some bras. I bought those, but I will say I splurged a little bit on her. That woman deserves it!  Not that Alex or Phil do not, but yah know. Im partial to the lady that I was inside of....moving on. Here's the rest of the cheaper, stocking stuffer, type of gifts.

She needed a new perfume and when I smelled Angel in the store, I swore it smelled like popsicles! Idk wtf but the deal was 2 for $15 at Victoria's Secret plus I had a $10 off of any purchase. I paid $5 for 2 mini's, which makes 1 $2.50.

My mom's name is Penny and she loves anything having to do with the name. Since Lucky Penny from Essie was already on my wishlist, I figured I would buy it for her and then get a chance to use it later too! But, when I compared that with China Glaze's Magical, I couldn't pass it up. It is more of a taupe and definitely more cooler in color and has a sparkly+metallic finish. Im Sold. It's all mine. Wait! This is for my mom.....Oh yeah, from Ulta.

Joico shampoo and conditioner I have heard really, really good things! It is also really, really expensive! I felt like such a luxurious product, fit perfect for a Christmas present for my mother because she would never splurge on it without ever trying it to begin with. They have a deal going on at Ulta, 5 things for $10. This shampoo and conditioner (could also be used as a deep conditioner) were included so pretty good deal.

A Notepad. Always comes in handy. Found at Big Lots. They have these everywhere. You guys already know!

Eco Tools Makeup Brushes were something she really needed! She has 1 blush brush and she always is using mine so I figured know she has some of her own (: I bought these at Marc's which is local but you can get these at any drugstore.

Big Sexy Hair Root Pump was a part of the 5 for $10 at Ulta. Can't hurt.

Redken Shine Flash 2. Ever since I got this in my Birchbox months back, she was the one that used it up! I have had this present on the back burner for a while. Full price for the smaller can is $8. Oh well. I guess some things are just worth it. I got it at Ulta.

Milani Lipstick in Orange Gina was a part of the CVS beauty clearance. She loves her corals. Hurry and check your local CVS! They may still have things marked down! Here's what I got!

Aloe Vera towelettes were found at Big Lots for $1. That is how my mom likes to take off her makeup. Good deal.
 total $34.50

 dont forget about my video!
if your wanting more gift ideas & if you like watching videos, check it out! I hope I have time to post part 2! finger's crossed! If not, have a Merry Christmas!

Ok! I am going to stop here! I can officially wrap these babies! Ill go for part 2 in the next couple days. Fingers crossed that we get just a little bit of sun while im off the clock so I can photograph the rest! I am off to make the rest of my cookies! There will be a blog post for that too! Can I fit all of this in before Tuesday? I hope so! The holiday season isn't over until January officially in my book, anyways.

And alleluia! The world is still turning and we didn't get sucked into a black hole! Thank you Jesus! I knew you were gunna wait it out! lol

Happy Holidays! Don't forget to slow down and enjoy it!

if you need more idea's, go to my DIY Gift Basket's blog post from last year. I did some different stuff!

P.S. I Made This Nail Polish Rack!

While browsing the web looking for a great nail polish rack I can buy, I quickly started wondering why they were all extremely overpriced and also bland. All 20 I looked at were just made from clear plastic **snooze**
So I actually found a video on Youtube about how to make one which I will link below if you wanna check it out.

I followed her guidelines for the most part, except I jazzed mine up a bit using pretty pink damask scrapbook paper, hot pink, & zebra ribbon. I must say, it is far from an eye sore and I honestly cannot believe I made this!
It was extremely easy to make as well as a lot of fun. I paid about $16 in all, as I had glue, a glue gun, & an X-Acto knife on hand. I am thinking about doing a step by step blog post on my other blog, Meet Miss Jackson. Let me know what you think and if you would be interested in checking it out. It is far more rewarding looking at my nail polishes all in place with my very own DIY polish rack.

Sorry about the lighting in the picture above! I simply couldn't wait for a sunny day to show of my amazing talent haha!

If you are thinking about making your own, here's a list of the stuff you will need:

Foam Cord (2 large pieces)
Elmer's Glue
Hot Glue
Hot Glue Gun
Scrapbook Paper or Wall Paper
Ruler or Architectural Scale
X-Acto Knife
Scissors
2 Spools of Ribbon

Seriously easy-peasy. Make one!

Have you guys ever DIY'ed anything? I would love to know what!

as always, thanx for reading!

xoxo

If I Was A Nautical Pirate....

I love this nautical trend that is sweeping over the summer! It is so americana, classic, & pirate-y! I love the stripes, beachy theme, red, white, and blue colors: it's perfect for Independence Day! To me, it's reminiscent of the 40's and 50's. So if I was a nautical pirate or (naval attendee), this would be what my life would look like (in collage form).

Lipstick- Nars in Jungle Red- When ever I think of a Navy Pin-Up from way back when I think fire-engine red!...or Jungle Red
Purse- Chanel....enough said
Skirt- Love Label- I sense a nautical theme because of the vertical buttons, which are so cute! What sets this one apart for me, is the extra fabric around the waist- I think it gives it a modern twist! definitely a 2011 trend
Necklace- Forever 21
OPI- Yoga-Ta Get This Blue- Since I went with the red lipstick, I think a navy blue nail polish would be cute as long as im going for the red, white, and blue look.
Bikini Top-not too sure where this is from...sorry!
Shoes- Shoedazzle- Adara
Bedding- I love the thicker navy blue stripes paired with the white bed, and the rest of the bedding, I think the nautical theme when it comes to interiors is great and can def. be pulled off- as long as you don't go over board! I love the wicker storage box too- nice touch. This room looks like it belongs right next to the sea!

I hope everyone is having a fab holiday weekend! And if your not american and/or dont celebrate Fourth of July, just pretend you do so that way you can have an excuse to celebrate, relax, and have fun! The past couple days every which way I look I see fireworks! I love this time of year!!

Inspired by Kardashian's

So I was actually half-tempted to dedicate another blog to the Kardashian's..eh going a bit to the extreme tho lol- going a bit far but can we just make it a Kardashian month? Seriously, I have been so inspired by them since I watched the premiere on Sunday.

Loves:
Kourtney's House- OMG Love it! Kourtney is definitely the more shabby chic one of the group, I love her new home! It has character! The white cabinetry, Blue Shutters, Love Love Love it! Her's is the most different house of them all.

I cannot find a pic of Kourtney's new house!! Damn! I wanted everyone else to gush with me! Oh well here's a picture of her that Is so beautiful! I love her makeup! I like the bright lip and bold eyes together, I def. wanna do a FOTD with this as inspiration!

Jenner's House Makeover- They did a beautiful job on the house, I absolutely love it! I actually do love the entry way tile at the Jenner's- black & white blocks. It reminds me so much of Cher Horowitz(s?) house. Clueless was my favorite movie growing up, I used to try to dress like her and I would do drawings of what I thought the rest of her house looked like! haha I was a dork even then! so the Jenner's house is a bit nostalgic for me, I have to say (: The decorator is Jeff Andrews.

Jenner's house. Dining room.

Jenner Kitchen: love that Back-splash & and the oven

Kim & Kris are so adorable we all know that she has been looking for love forever now, right? Having met all of her boyfriends (on television, of course) I have to say that they are cutest together. You can really tell they love each other- so exited to see what is to come with those 2. I think I like Kris as much as I like the Bruiser just from seeing the 2 minute clip of him at the beginning of the show, along with the trailer.

I found this on google, and the website mentioned this is a pic at the Jenner house the night they were engaged:

To just fill you in on my thoughts for the past Kardashian year: I didn't really get too much into Khloe and Lamar mainly because of Rob.....& Khloe... I have to admit. I however, did love and enjoy Kim & Kourtney Take NYC. It seems as if Kourtney is growing up (for lack of a better word) and we all used to hate Scott right?! Ever since K&K in NYC...maybe even a little before that- I can see Kourtney's attraction to him...he has a huge personality. My bf will even watch Kardashian's, and he will actually like it (trust me, its hard for him..more of a show for the girls) if Bruce & now if Scott are in it.
I love these Promo Pics- Khloe

So am I the biggest Kardashian/Blog dork for actually taking notes during the show?!? You dont hafta tell me, I already know (:

The shoes that Kim tripped on at the dinner...yes those have made an appearance on my blog before! The Spring Trends post a did a while back....

ah ha! great minds think alike...me and kim...are now besties! now only if I could start a shoe fund and actually buy them- Louboutin (mega) heel- it is too bad she tripped on them...I will let that slide. god I love her whole outfit at the dinner, she looked stunning. I just love Kim so much!

Whose Side Are You On?

Kourtney & Khloe vs. Kris - They are both kinda right- thats a tie

Khloe vs. Kim - Kim's - she was there for Khloe when she married Lamar after only like a month. And Khloe mentions that Kim is a "relationship girl"- I have to admit that I am the same way...I always have a boyfriend- I am happy that Khloe apologized to her in the end. So funny when she said "I ain't no basketball wife honey, he is a reality star husband" ha! that is so true! I honestly would not know who any of these athlete's are if it wasn't for the Kardashain's, would you?

Rob vs. Kim - Kim again for sure- Wow she looked like really pissed at him when she mentioned he's only is nice to her when he needs something...Idk what his problem has been but all I have to say to him and his attitude is no.

Favorite Kardashian for the season:
I think it's going to be Kourtney....or Kim.

Cute Storage and Organization Tip

hey everybody! My major used to be Architectural & Interiors I have an obsession with being organized and I just love little touches in a room. I am really fascinated with architecture and interiors, so I am always on the hunt for great adorable deals. I picked up some stuff recently pick little things up all the time so I wanted to share some things with you guys I am sure you will all enjoy!

I was shopping at Big Lots and decided between this or Revlon Colorstay invisible lip-liner....I was not sold in that "invisible" mess (anybody tried it?) so I opted for the much more practical, useful high-heel ring holder! Dont you love?!

Me and BFFF had to drive her mama out to Pittsburgh to catch a plane this past weekend so we decided to stop at Ikea while we were out there. I am really crazy about organization especially when it comes to paper everywhere. Something about seeing a bunch of paper on the floor makes me wanna puke! (im so weird, I know) Love these: 2 of them for 5 bucks!

Spring Trends (part 2 of 5) :Interiors

i love this one
Think: Antique, Vintage, Bold Stripes & Prints. When I think of trends for interiors, I think a piece, or a print that can also be considered timeless. With the color for the year declared by Pantone, this has been my color since I was born. The Pantone Color Of The Year is a bright pink color called Honeysuckle. It is supposed to reflect on nostalgia & have an energetic impression. Think: sweet, childhood memories! They were also going for really girly, and they nailed it on the head in my opinion!  "Courageous. Confident. Vital. A brave new color, for a brave new world"... And Bold it is! Here are some Honey Suckle, Bold Prints - Beautiful rooms I found.

"Let the bold spirit of Honeysuckle infuse you, lift you and carry you through the year. It’s a color for every day – with nothing “everyday” about it." -Pantone Spokes Person

Like I said its not only the pink colors that are making their entry, its also the bold colors. The Picture above I think also reflects on the fashion trends of spring for this year which are shiny, metallics.

This is my absolute favorite textile I found for this spring! Love the Honeysuckle Pink with the bold print, but I also love the white, subtle background as well along with the birdie! So adorable!

These 3 prints are obviously not honeysuckle, but they are the interior trends. I love that Tiffany's blueish green on these 2 textile's & what I've been finding for textiles besides honeysuckle and bold colors are Peacocks, Birds, Shiny, and these Potted Flower looking prints. These are both nice examples of sheer beauty (no pun intended) but with that punch of color

I always loved the Pink & Brown together!

The next pictures are perfect idea's of vintage, antique, pink but with that fresh new look in opinion anyways...

No honeysuckle pink but still very pretty, love the ceiling, dont you?

I honestly love the "HoneySuckle" Kitchen. I feel they pull it off perfectly. If your going to go with hot pink cabinetry, Let the walls be white and the rest be very minimal! My bf would never let me do this, but if I lived alone, this would be my kitchen for sure!
Maybe with a backsplash like one of these....

and to prove that trends repeat themselves here are some things I got back in 2007 which are still as beautiful and fresh as they were when i bought them...

Bijoux Terner ($10 for all 3) I love these! I barely ever use them cuz they are so cute!

Bijoux Terner ($10..everything is if you were wondering) its a pillowcase..so cute right? How's that for bold colors?!

Chinese Box I Got At Target in the Dollar Section around Christmas.
