Lately I have been obsessed with glitter nail polishes. I bought a few from the Christmas 2013 OPI Collection which are both top coats. Also, CVS is having a sale on a ton of beauty stuff, and I bought a few Selena Gomez Nicole by OPI top coats there. $8 and I they were on sale for $2! I would go check CVS out if your interested. But there are some really great non-top coat glitter polishes too. And I talk about those too. These are my top 10.
So the how I did this was took old NOTW's and put them in to go with this video. Every single NOTW, you can click on the link and it will take you to the actual blog post with a much better review.
I didn't mention this on the video but I thought the matte top coat paired with a loose glitter looked really cool.
over top Essie's Nothing Else Metals. I love glitters over duo chromes!
A Jelly Sandwich Mani is layered like so: a jelly nail polish, a glitter in the middle, and then over lapped with a jelly nail polish. Sheer nail polishes also give a great effect and that's what I did here. China Glaze Prizmis the glitter and I used Sally Hansen Hard Core Party for the sheer polish which is a sheer baby pink {weird name, right?}
Another one of my favorite ways to use glitter nail polishes is the pair them with a matte top coat. I've done a few of these NOTW's on my blog. I looks like confetti. My favorite matte top coat is from Hard Candy. It's called Matte-ly in Love and is used in both of these Confetti mani's.
My favorites are the big chunky glitters that come in all shapes and sizes. This is Hard Candy's Party Central
Sally Hansen Strobe Light. Great glitter top coat. Here it is over top of Sally Hansen's No Hard Feelings
When Monkey's Fly from OPI is so strange but so pretty. I bought this last Christmas (2012) but I seen a couple bottles at Ulta a few days ago. I love this pair too. It is over top China Glaze Refresh-mint along with Julep Portia which is a top coat kind of like Strobe Light.
Which one is your favorite?
What about your favorite glitter nail polish of all time?
It has been a very crazy start to the fall. Lots of ups and downs. October is one of my favorite months because of my birthday (the 8th!).
I also love it for 2 more reasons: 1) because I know this will be the last of the nicer weather to takes walks and be outside and 2) it is closer to Christmas!
Unfortunately, the restaurant I was working at closed down at the start of October and I am at a loss *again* looking for a job. I have been praying I can get one in enough time to celebrate Christmas! It is my favorite holiday. This will be an extension of my beauty favorites. Check those out here.
♡Fall Favorites♡
Arm Candy:
Maybe this would qualify as a beauty favorite but whatever, I already uploaded the picture here. A trend I never really got into until recently. I have been buying cheap arm candy at every chance I get! If your loving this trend too, you will love my Forever 21 jewelry purchases!
Purple Jeweled Bracelet: Walmart $1.99
Pink Gummy Watch: JC Penney $10
Black Shamballa Bracelet: 5 and Below $2.99
My Birthday:
It was my birthday on the 8th!! Thanks to my mom for making dinner, my b/f's mom, Barb, for making me this delicious cake, my b/f Phil for the presents and taking me out to dinner (Red Lobster all you can eat shrimp! Holla!), & my bfff Alex for the pumpkins, & candle! I love you guys so much! We had a fun relaxing night, talking, drinking wine and hanging out. Alex brought the other puppies Lexi, Precious (Stella's mom), & Chloe (Stella's twin sister). It was 1 of the best birthday's yet! I was so lucky to have all of my favorite living beings there! 4 dogs & 3 other people besides myself. The dog to human ratio is sometimes at least 50/50. Most of the time, we are out numbered by dogs at 2/4. We love our puppies!
Pumpkins:
Alex
again, thank you girl! Have yet to carve these babies! I actually kinda
like them plain. They look rustic sitting on the janky back porch! LOL!
Jack-O-Lantern These are at the Boardman Park. I guess all the school's had a competition. Some of the best 1's were done by pre-schoolers! Wow! They look awesome! One good thing about Youngstown Ohio is the parks this time of year!
Seasonal Beer:
I love trying seasonal beers. There's something about fall beers that
gets me exited. I am usually a wine drinker any other time of the year.
At my old work, they would rim the beer mug with cinnamon and sugar, then add pumpkin flavored beer. Perfect drink if your having a Halloween party! I bought a 6 pack of Sam Adams version of Octoberfest. I think that is my favorite Octoberfest beer.
Walks In The Park:
1 of our favorite things to do is go for walks in the park. There are so many good parks around here and lately we have been going to a park called Boardman Park. For the past couple of week's, the park has been really active. On top of the Jack-O-Lantern display, all of the decorations for the witch walk are up in the trail. They had Octoberfest + they are doing pancakes with homemade maple syrup which comes from the barks of trees. Here's some cute fall pictures from 1 of our walk a couple weeks ago. The other night, there were so many leaves on the ground that you couldn't even see the path!
♡Favorite Fall Candle(s)♡
Cinnamon Sugared Donut Candle!
I took back my Frosted Cupcake, which
didnt smell like anything when I lit it. I
exchanged it to get my favorite fall scent from B+BW. I love this! It's a
spicy, sweet, sweet scent! If your not into the super spicy scents, but
want to stay true to the season, give this 1 a smell! And I promise
this has a high scent throw!
♡Favorite Candle #2:♡
Air Wick Candle:
The candle Alex got me for my birthday! She knows me too well! It is from Air Wick. This candle doesn't have much of a smell, but I have been lighting it every single night because it changes colors! A perfect present, I believe, is something so gimmicky and cool that you probably would not buy it for yourself. This was right on the nose! LOL! I think this will be in some peoples Christmas boxes this year!
♡Favorite Nail Combo♡
Essie's A Cut Above:
That's the rose gold glitter you see. I love it so much. Not a great mani on my part but I had to share that gorgeous glitter again! And the light pink is from Wet n Wild from one of the older, cheaper nail polish lines. I don't know the name because it wore off and I dont recommend the polish. It got gloopy real quick. I just really love the color. Any baby pink will do for me!
♡Favorite Book♡
Helter Skelter: Maybe you didn't know, but I love anything having to do with criminal law. Example, some of my favorite shows are Lock Up, Forensic Files, First 48, Snapped, & The Investigators. For a short time, I wanted to become a psychiatrist for people on death row. I want to get into their minds. I also had a slight obsession years ago to know everything there was to know about the whole Manson era. If I could go back in time, I would go back to 1969 and go the Haight Ashbury District, I would attend Woodstock (I would bring food for myself! Im 1 step ahead!) & make it back in time to be at the Manson trial. You may already know I have always had a huge obsession with Hollywood + how movies are made. I love when a set looks "fake". And when it comes to Hollywood, the older the better! I just love it! I would probably have to take my time traveling device to Hollywood circa 1940's too. Im getting off subject...
Even though I watch Forensic Files and can even get into court t.v. as long as its a high profile, juicy case, court t.v. will not capture my attention for too long. I was afraid Helter Skelter was going to be reminiscent of court t.v., reciting a bunch of legal documents from the trial and I wasn't going to be able to follow- considering it was written by the prosecutor himself. There is some legal jargon, but it's really easy to read. The last book I have read this fast was My Friend Leonard. If your into criminal law, the late 60's, or your into the whole Manson trial + more: give it a read!
♡Favorite Puppy♡
Stella: Cant leave her out! She's a big girl now and her birthday is coming soon!1 (or 7) year(s) old! I love her. I know, I am a weird dog lady. My idea of a great birthday was having my 3 closest ppl at my house along with the 4 best dogs I know! Alex has Precious, Lexi, & Chloe. Lexi and Chloe are twinsies as they were born in the same litter. Said litter came out of Precious. Lexi's the only 1 not blood related. Lexi is also the goodest dog. The min pins are little brats! LOL! She loves other animals (kitties and puppies) but doesn't like strange people too much.
Phil holding her ears down- haha! She looks so cute and silly!
She has on a coat and a sweater: "I cant put my arms down!"lol!
♡Favorite Song♡
Long December
Old school, right?! How many remember this song? I used to love this song and completely forgot about it. I love when I all of the sudden remember songs I forgotten. I love any 90's rock. It is some of my favorite type of music. This song hits the spot if your craving a 90's rock song. Next song will be by Matchbox20....anyone?
♡Favorite T.V. Show♡
The Challenge. this is my favorite show on. I have been watching it since Real World Road Rules Challenge 2000. I watch it every season & lately, have liked it more than Real World. When it is time for a new season, I always kick myself for not following the last season of the Real World a little more closely. MTV has the best reality shows in my opinion. Teen Mom. Jersey Shore. Second best would be TLC. How can I forget about Sister Wives, 19 Kids and Counting, Toddlers and Tiara's, Little People Big World, or Breaking Amish. I love t.v. This is my absolute fave show, though. This video is for the trailer.
Thats it! If you want to know my beauty favorites, then click.
What are favorite things about fall?
and by the way, Happy Halloween! thank you for stopping by! xoxo Erica
Hey! I cannot tell you how long I have wanted Essie's A Cut Above. It have wanted this since my Rose Gold Phasebut never picked it up because I just couldn't justify paying $8 for a bottle of polish. It wasn't until a week or two ago when I passed it again for the 13th time at my local grocery store. I have just been lusting. Dreaming up different ways I can use it. (blogging about beauty has really done something to my head!) Needless to say, I picked it up and didn't look back! So glad I didn't!
Nothing Else Metals has been seen before on Mind Body Beauty. My b/f's mom Barbara, gave it to me! I never like picking things up in her house for fear she will just put it in my purse for me to take home! A giver, she is! But I don't mind! ;)
A Cut Above from the Luxe Effects Line:
"a shattered pink diamond glitz" is how Essie herself describes it. I like to think of it as my own personal rose gold (: Unlike most (if not all) China Glaze glitters, A Cut Above is a top coat as opposed to an opaque glitter nail polish you would only need 1-2 coats of to cover your nail. However, it has more glitter in it than other glitter top coats you might find. Such as Party of 5 Glitters from Wet n Wild if your familiar. I personally think that A Cut Above has just enough glitter and is the perfect top coat. I wouldn't have it any other way!
Nothing Else Metals from the Mirror Metallics Line:
"a carefree lavender metallic" is Essie's description. It doesn't seem very lavender to me. It is more like a silver duo-chrome with purple undertones to my eyes. You can decide for yourself.
Your Looking at 1 coat of Nothing Else Metals and 2 coats of A Cut Above:
A while back I seen A Cut Above used over a duo chrome and thought it looked seriously stunning. Looking at both of them head on, you would never think they were a match made in heaven.
Next time your sifting through your collection, take a good look at each polish (or eye shadow) next to each other, if your finding it hard to come up with a good pair. I bet you will find many you wouldn't even think of other wise!
If you missed out on 1 of my favorite lip pairings, feel free to click me!
As you can tell by the front page of my blog, I have been a little obsessive with the nail polish. I have a bunch of other non-nail-polish blogs coming up really soon! and a video! If your newer to the video world link me up and we can be youtube friends! This is my youtube channel
Shout out to my Hello Cotton people! I can't believe this blog post made it into one of the most popular beauty blog posts there on Sept. 7th! I was just going through them, like I do almost every week to find some new blogs and could not believe I seen my blog up there! I know I am the biggest dork because I have been walking on cloud nine! If you have never checked out Hello Cotton and you love all kinds of blogs, check it out for real! I love that site (: Thank you xoxo Erica
is
my favorite duo chrome polish to date. In some light, it looks as if you
painted 1 side of your nail 1 color, and the other side another color. I
just love that. One thing I love from the duo chrome/ oil spill
polishes is that it can take on a life of it's own.
If
you love duo chrome's, you gotta try this! It is from the new line from Essie
and they have a couple other colors (all duo chrome) that would fit your
mood or style.
Quite
frankly, this was rather easy to apply. It dried rather quick. I used 2
coats. I lasted for like 2 days maybe. I can't find a nail polish that
would last longer then that anyways (suggestions?)
This was a gift from my boyfriend's mom, so thank you Barb! She's probably not reading this but yah no, just in case (:
NOTW post's are never long. If you have question's let me know. Other than that, I think I just about covered everything!
Hey Bloggers! I hope everyone is having a wonderful day and I have been taking pictures for this post for about a week now. Wow! The colors are hard to capture esp. when they're all so similar sitting next to each other! But I think I got them...perfect actually! So yay! I have a big polish collection & I have been exited to share it with you guys and just let cha know what ones I love and opinions on the rest, so here goes:
quick *note* I will mention the polishes from left to right, as pictured, so there's no confusion.
I keep all of my polish on the top of my dresser in this cute box I got from Victoria Secret- it was a set of a candle, lotion, and oil i think it was that came in this box- after 5-7 years I have had the box it is still really durable
Pinks:
Out of all the color's I have, I have the most pink ones! Some of which aren't pictured, my mom borrowed them
Essie French Affair- I love this one, a really pretty pale, muted pink and the exact dupe for this one is the Finger Paints in Brushstroke Blush (pictured), You cannot tell the different between the 2 once painted on nail.
Sally Hansen in Bubblegum Pink- I love this one too, another favorite. A couple shades darker than French Affair
Finger Paints in Brushstroke Blush- You can find this brand at Sally's
The color that is cut off is one I got for Christmas- and doesn't have a name
(2nd pic)
Covergirl in Sassy Strawberry
China Glaze in Shocking Pink - Neon, but not as bright as the next one:
Nina Ultra Pro in Punki Pink - Neon pinkwhich is perfect for the summer! I bought this at Sally's. Need a couple coat of this stuff- and since it is so neon, it goes on more matte than glossy- use a top coat
Greens:
Sally Hansen Insta-Dry in Mint Sprint. yes it dries quickly and I love the brush. If you can picture a foundation brush, that's is what the brush on this one is like. It comes to a point, almost- which I really love the brush on it
Sally Hansen in Mint Sorbet: Love these muted/pastel colors. My favorite Green I have
Avon Nail Wear in Jade
Blues:
Avon Nail Wear in Vintage Blue: Another pastel. I love this one, and almost forgot about it! I have been wearing it all week! It like a perfect sky blue.
Sally Hansen in Blue me Away!: Its a nice bold blue.
Yellows & Orange:
Maybelline Express Finish in Sunshine: Not a huge fan of this one. The color is a tad bit distorted in the picture but not by much. Its a bit brighter in person, I think it makes my nails look like i've been smoking a lot of cigarettes and they have stained my nails or something.
Sally Hansen in Yellow Kitty: They shoulda named it like vanilla cake or cupcake or something I think, it's just cuter! either way, Its a muted/pastel yellow. It has the same brush as the Mint Sprint, which I love
NinaUltra Pro in Solar Flare: I found this brand at Sally's Beauty. I wanted a Neon color that I could put on my toes for the summer when i'm tan, I just love neon's for summer. This is a nice color but once its on you def. need a top coat because it is matte, there's no shine to it at all! and be prepared to layer this color on!
Sally Hansen Sun Kissed: As the only orange, it's a nice orange punch for my collection
Purples:
Sally Hansen in Lacey Lilac- My Favorite Purple
China Glaze in Flying Dragon - Described as neon on the bottle, This one has blueish glitter running through it.
Icing in Preppy Purple- I compared/reviewed this onehere Avon Mirror Shine in Polish- Love these although the polish goes on really thin, but they are pretty! I have this one in pink too
Avon Luxe Lavender- a tad bit darker than the Lacey Lilac
Nudes:
Avon Mirror Shine in Peach Ice: I really like this collection from Avon. The colors look like metallic flakes on your fingers, they are really different. This one is nice. I just hate how you cant see the color through the bottle- sry guys
Essie in Sand Tropez: I love this. A pastel nude, perfect for me!
Zoya in Jules: I got this in my BirchBox a few months ago, and this isnt one I would purchase on my own, but it is a pretty color and really different from any color I have, so that's a good thing.
Avon in Sheer French Pink: This is my second bottle of this, I love this for french manicures. I sometimes wear it alone as well.
Blacks & Silvers: I hate to say that these ones never get used, mainly because they are all a bit old but I was so hip to the "dark nail" trend a couple years ago that will be making a come back by this fall! yay! I am exited about that. Revlon in Patent Leather- black with sparkles running thru it. actually im throwing this out- too gooey, it was my favorite polish when I bought it tho. I remember it was a good dupe for my private jet by OPI. I remember that because Kim Kardashian was shopping for it in the episode that she found that little dog (remember?) so I immediately had to have it- well at least a dupe Finger Paints in Gallery Glam- yeah gooey as well because of how old it is. just black. Finger Paints in Silver Sculpture- I bought this along with Gallery Glam and surprisingly this one isnt gooey. The formula is different I think its because of the metallic finish. Comparable to any of the Avon Mirror Shines as far as formula goes. Has a purple undertone to it Pure Ice in Silver Mercedes- again very comparable to the Silver Sculpture as far as formula goes and color as well although this one is a truer silver
Reds- I have like 4 reds and they aren't pictured! Sorry guys i forgot about them because I never use them- i use one of them only to put the cherry on top of the cupcake
So yeah there's my collection and as we both learned I am a polish hoarder! Ive seen posts like this and I think its a great idea to just see who has what and who recommends what so if you did a "polish collection" I would love to see it so please lemme know!
Before you go...check out what I got! Lot of really expensive things for cheap! cha ching! haha but for real guys, my bill was $21.37- John Frieda, Essie, Almay, Sally Hansen- great products for a great price. I am so exited to get on with it and share it with everybody! This is the stuff I live for! Im sucha dork- (:
EssieSand Tropez (nude) and French Affair (pink) I paid$3.89 for each and I saved $3.90...I love these pretty pale colors I cannot get enough of them! I never bought Essie polishes before because I just thought they were a little expensive, so I was exited to try these out- esp. the Sand Tropez. I dont have any other color like it. Really pretty and different- its nice to change it up once and a while!
I also got the Sally Hansen in Yellow Kitty (paid $1.95 and saved $5.84) and I have been wanting to try it forever ever since I seen it on MissGlamorazzi's cupcake nail tutorial I thought it was really pretty- I actually posted it here I like this because it is a pastel as opposed to a true bright yellow - I dont like the bright yellows and if your into the pastel nails - this color is for you! Trust me, the picture of Yellow Kitty on my nails doesn't do it any justice. I dont think I have seen any other yellow like this yet anywhere- and *trust* I have been looking!
Sally Hansen Continuous Treatment Hardening Formula for soft thin nails. I have my avon nail hardener which comes off much more liquidy- which is a surprisingly great formula- then this one does. I have tested this nail hardener and I am on the fence with this one- I might review it if I do see any positive changes. This formula is time-released so maybe im not giving it enough time...I dunno. The promise is that it will provide nourishment and transform nails for 10 continuous days. it's been 2 days so far and I unfortunately don't see or feel change a huge change, like the Avon one however, I only paid $2.47 and saved $7.42! so it was nice to try it out anyways. For the $2.50 I paid, It's not bad at all
John Frieda Collection Luxurious Volume Full Splendor Conditioner- This was not part of the %75 off sale this was $7.29 but they have a deal right now for some John Frieda products that are $2 off so I paid $5.29. I have been hating my Tresemme conditioner- I feel like it weighs down my hair and makes it greasy after only a day or so, so I really wanted to try something different. My main thing when it comes to my hair is volume...I gotta have it! The promise John Frieda makes is that it "builds fullness at the roots; strengthens and conditions (lets hope so on the conditions part!) where needed for silky, full bodied hair." My hair tends to split at every single end of my top layer and in turn makes my top layer ends really frizzy! So I have high hopes for this-
Almay mascara One Coat Dial Up and Liner - for $2.12 bucks! what?!? I saved $6.37 with this! yay! I always need a new mascara and I was running low on liner so this was perfect. The brush for the mascara im not too fond of. at almost a buck a piece I really cannot complain. I personally like the first setting (there are 3 settings) on the mascara just because the higher the number goes, the more the mascara packs on to the brush...which means spider lashes...no. I really believe it is all about the brush, and it was a miss with this one. I do have really long lashes and what I look for in a mascara is a thicker wand with smaller "fingers" if you know what I mean...I hope. Regardless, not bad for two bucks. The liner is fine as well. Nothing special, but nothing horrible.
thats my haul- what did everybody else get at CVS? if you didn't get anything or didn't hear of the sale until now- go shopping and then come back and tell me EVERYTHING lol jk- but no seriously...do it
