Bath + Body Works Candles.

Wow, wow, wow! I have been crazy busy ever since April ended. In fact, even at the end of April was really busy. In the midst of picking up a ton of extra hours at work, working out, tanning, beautiful days for walks, re-decorating my room, trying to make a couple good videos to put up, My blog has been backed up! I have my Give-Away ready and waiting and I promise I will have it up asap. Get exited! I am (:

I love the 2 for $22 sale they have. It allows me to stock up from season to season + share the candles I got. Some girl's collect shoes. Others, bags.  For me, it's candles. And jewelry. And makeup. And tops and blouses. Let's stop there and get on with it.

The 2 for $22 sales allow us to buy 2 for $22, then every other 3 wick candle afterward is $11 each.

Limoncello:
In America this is an alcoholic beverage. I am not quite sure if the same holds true in Italy, but it doesn't smell like alcohol. This was the one I was drawn to the most because it seems like when I am in B+BW sniffing a ton of different candles, the scents all seem to mesh together and smell the same. This one smelled different than the rest. Let's face it, it smells just like Lemonade. But when I got it home, I realized it was my least favorite. I liked it, I did. It had a high scent throw. But after I burned it once, I wanted something else. The beauty of that is your allowed to burn the candle once and if you don't prefer it, you can exchange it for another one.I did just that. I will tell you later which one I got in lieu of Limoncello.

Poolside:
This is going to be in my current favorites. The scent description in my eyes {nose?} isn't correct. To me, this smells like Coppertone or sun tanning lotion. It reminds me of being in Virginia Beach or Nags Head beach at age 10 on a very hot day, playing in the sand and water. Then going to the boardwalk. I love this one. Truly love it. I bought a Candle's By Victoria candle in Coppertone awhile back and they are comparable but CBV's is more floral and powdery. Almost old lady like. Almost. Poolside is perfect in that it has a high scent throw {I can smell it throughout my bedroom which is big} but doesn't stray away from a Coppertone type of scent. You will either love it or hate it.

Watermelon Lemonade:
I have not burned this yet because my mom said she liked it {it's going to be a Mother's day gift} and it has taken me a little bit of will power to not burn it because it smells so good. I have the lid off sitting next to my bed and every once and awhile I will catch a whiff of it even though it isn't burning. It smells just like watermelon. But sweeter. Like watermelon juice.

Gelato:
I exchanged Limoncello for this one. It was the one I initially wanted but didn't see it at the store the first time. OMG this one is amazing. Just like Watermelon Lemonade, weather it is being burned or not, you can still smell it. When I took my first whiff of it, it brought me back to middle school or high school. I don't why. But I do it reminds me of a body splash or soap I used to have. It's killing me because I cannot think of what it reminds me of. Grrr! It smells delicious. I am going with the description on this one mixed with a juice, popsicle, or gelato. You know that kind of scent. Food scents are my favorite.

That's it! I want to get some Wallflowers too eventually in a few of these fragrances. They have some really cute plug ins right now.

Favorite Healthy Meal Bars

I love taking Luna Bars to work with me. I have breakfast when I wake up {which is in the form of protein} and meal 2 is always made right when I am running out the door. I bought myself a cute to go tumbler to take it with me to work. By 1pm, I am still at my job. A pizza and wing restaurant. If I don't grab a bar to eat around this hour, I will cave and go for a flat bread or burger. Bars are perfect to throw in my bag and take with me so I don't do that. Here's some I currently have {had} lying around.

Luna Bars:
are anywhere from 200-300 calories.{?} They do fill me up and are equal to a full meal for me. I never really finish a whole bar. Unless I am really hungry.

Caramel Nut Brownie Luna Bar:
This is my favorite Luna bar. It does kinda have that meal bar taste/texture, but it is the closest healthy thing I have had to a brownie. It is so rich and dense, like a brownie would be. There is a layer of caramel on the top of the bar and that part is perfection. It is just caramel perfection.I found this flavor at Wal-Mart for $1 near the vitamins.

White Chocolate Macadamia Luna Bar:
Before I discovered the Caramel Nut Brownie Luna Bar, this one was my favorite. This has white chocolate coating on the bottom, like the bottom was dipped in white chocolate. It is delicious. It reminds me more of a dense granola bar

Peanut Honey Pretzel Luna Bar:
I was expecting to find pieces of pretzel in the bar but I didn't find any. It does mix sweet and salty, however. It has a peanut butter type of coating on the bottom, like the white chocolate in the macadamia bar. The texture is also a type of dense granola bar. This one was pretty good.

Perfectly Simple Bar:
This reminds me of a plain Lara Bar. The texture and mixture is the same. I can't say it tasted like coconut cream or coconut for that matter. It has very few ingredients, all good ones. There was only one ingredient that was different from the Lara Bars. Evaporated Cane Sugar. I personally don't mind a little sugar. These were on sale last week at Target for 80 cents.

Coconut Cream Lara Bar:
This on the other hand was not a plain Lara Bar. It really tasted like coconut cream. Lara Bars are known for their very few ingredients and all this had was dates, almonds, coconut, coconut oil, and maybe I am missing a couple nuts or or something. The texture of these if you didn't know are a little firmer than a no bake cookie.

Other Delicious Bars:

Home Made Fudge Brownie Lara Bar:
If you have never been to Chocolate Covered Katie and you love Lara Bars, you need to check her out. She is where I get all of my Lara Bar recipes/ideas. She calls them Fudge Babies. Damy also has some good Lara Bar recipes too. You can make your own Lara Bars with whole, healthy ingredients. Nuts. Seeds. Spices. Oats. Dates. Raisins. Coconut. Awhile back, I posted a recipe for a Lara Bar called Fudge Brownie Balls.

{the rest of the photos were taken with my iPhone}
 Kind Bars:
These were recent discoveries and can I tell you about the Coconut + Almond one? OMG it was like eating a gooey coconut macaroon! This was my favorite bar I have had. I am serving these next Christmas instead of my coconut macaroons. Nobody would know the difference. The Blueberry + Pecan one was pretty good too. I know the Kind bars are not as filling as a Luna Bar but they do hold me over.

http://distilleryimage1.s3.amazonaws.com/4eb54f4caaea11e2ae2122000ae90612_7.jpg

Odwalla Bars:
Another new discovery. I get these at Wal-Mart. These are also pretty filling but nothing is as ever as filling as a Luna Bar. those babies are dense.

White Chocolate Macadamia:
This one just looks so yummy and it was pretty good. This is more of a chewy bar.

http://distilleryimage1.s3.amazonaws.com/05d20bd6b0f711e2a98422000aa80fc9_7.jpg

Banana Nut:
This was my favorite of the 2 Odwalla bars. It's even chewier than the White Chocolate Macadamia and has little chunks of nuts or oats or something. It was delicious. It will be my new every day bar.

There will be more to come on my workout routine, diet, meals, grocery lists, organization, and other ways I stay on track soon enough if I thought that's what you wanted. Let me know if any of that intrigues you.

How to Get Free Stuff for Your Blog + A Beautisol Tan Glow Review

Hey yall!

I hope that title drew you in because I know it would for me. I have had this blog for over 2 years now, and as you may know, I never have anything sponsored or anything like that. I have always wanted to go down that road {hey! It sound's like fun to me!} but don't really know how. I signed up iFabbo last year and every {week I think} they send out newsletters for Beauty + Fashion Bloggers. How to grow your blog, Spotlighting different bloggers, just a bunch of good stuff like that. It intrigued me.

Just recently, iFabbo had this great idea to open up a shop. iFabbo Shop. But you don't buy stuff with money. You buy it with points! You start out with so many points. You put in your order. They send you the stuff. And you review it to get more points by using hashtags. This allows me to think outside of the box and utilize more platforms for promoting Mind Body Beauty. If your a blogger, sign up! It's a fun challenge. You get free stuff. You do what you love and review that stuff. It gets the word out about the SHOP. This kind of stuff excites me. I don't have to feel weird because I know you love it too!

I figured the actual card they sent might be more helpful for those who are interested.

On to my humble review.

On my part, I messed up. I was so exited about the new SHOP that I didn't realize that this was actually a wash off body bronzer and not a gradual tanner. So even though this isn't perfect for building a tan, it is really awesome to use for a special night out. Or day out. Weddings. Picnics. Get together's. Let's face it. I will most likely use it when ever I am feeling frogy. Because it really is that easy.

When I first opened the box I noticed that iFabbo included a pink Starburst {so cute}. With that it also came with 2 instruction sheets: 1 for how to use the product and 1 for how to incorporate iFabbo and get involved.

Weather your using Beautisol Tan Glow Wash-Off Bronzer or not, the instruction sheet is still a good rule of thumb to go by for any type of self tanner/body bronzer. It tells you exactly where/how much to use in every area on your body.

It also came with a mitt! I have always wanted one of these! Again, these are great for any type of self tanner/ body bronzer. I will be using this even when my Body Bronzer is gone. I pumped X amount onto the mitt and I could not believe my nose...

This stuff smells amazing. Like a nice, clean body splash or soap. It smells nothing like a self tanner. Even after I have had it on all day, the scent still lingered.

As I started applying it to my body with the mitt, there wasn't any streaking. I waited for it to dry for a couple minutes {if that} and started working out. At this point, I really wanted to test it. After my workout, I didn't have any streaking or weird fading. So even on a hot day, I won't be afraid to wear it. Later that night I washed it off and I came off just fine.

I am still skeptical though. It says to avoid water and sweating so I have no idea how it stayed on when I was working out. Whatever! I'll take it.

It does say to exfoliate but honestly, I didn't do that. Oopsie! It didn't even matter. I worked perfectly without me taking that step.

As you can see, you get a subtle tan. I didn't want anything too crazy but sometimes I do go there. I did not re-apply this time, but next time I will. I will check back in with you on that once I do the tanning video.

So, yeah great product! If your looking for something that is a gradual tan, look elsewhere. I know Beautisol has gradual tanner's and if this is a prelude to the rest of their products, then I would love to try any gradual tanner they have. I have not though so I cannot tell you about those. Banana Boat makes a great gradual tanner if your looking for one!

I almost wish I could have an indifferent opinion about it, as I don't want to sound all sale's-ey but fortunately, I don't. It even exceeded the limits it said it could not {no sweating, exfolite}

My favorite thing about all of this is iFabbo SHOP. If your a blogger, check it out!

Plus,
Beautisol has given me a link to use a promo code to get 20% off! I feel really cool, haha!

 ifabboglow

I hope you liked this review and more importantly, I hope you join iFabbo. It's a blast. And by the way, I do get more points if you use my link to buy it. Even if you don't buy and your interested, check out the link anyway! I'm not that beauty blogger that will hide behind any type of disclaimer, I got it for free and that's exiting for me! If your a beauty blogger, you can also get it for free too! Check out iFabbo.

Falling Confetti NOTW

Hi! I feel like it has been a minute. Almost a week! That's too long. I had a busy week last week. It was nice out. We went on some walks. Barbeque's. Hanging out outside. One of my good friends got married. I drank way too much. I also already wrote this blog post but somehow it was gone {wtf} I wore this mani this past week for all of those fun things

I just love how it looks.

It perfect for a night out or a day out.

I think the matte top coat really adds a little something and what makes it special, for me.

To wear a matte top coat on top of nothing but a white polish is just too much....can we say White-Off? But when you add a bright fuschia glitter on top of that, ombred, it looks like I took a million years. Or maybe it doesn't, I don't know. It looks like a million bucks, rather. It's just neat.

Here's what I used + How I did it:

Sally Hansen's Xtreme Wear Nail Color.
It is $2 at any drugstore {Dollar General too} and I am telling you, so easy to work with. You get a nice even coat after the 2nd one and I couldn't ask for another great white polish. Once I waited for that to dry completely, I moved onto....

Revlon Top Coat:
Here's the deal. I painted the tips of nails with this then dragged the rest of whatever clear coat I had on brush down the nail. You don't want to be too exact, just like you wouldn't want to be too exact if this was a  normal glitter ombre mani. This is what is going to hold the glitter on.

-Wait like 20 seconds for it to dry. You don't it to be too wet or else the glitter will cling to every little part of it and it won't have that trickle down effect. You don't wait it to be too dry or else it won't look ombred. It will just look like glitters here and there
-Have a piece of paper ready on a hard surface underneath your fingers so when you sprinkle the glitter over it, it will catch the remainder of the glitter. I put my loose glitter back in the package or you can just throw it away...

Sally Girl Sparkle Effects.
It $1 at Sally's Beauty Supply. They have a ton of different colors, I want to collect them all! :) anyhow, I think this is a steal for $1. I mean, honestly. The possibilities are endless using loose glitter. On the nail. In arts + crafts. Yeah, I just said arts + crafts. I know. I'm really cool. But im serious!

Matte-ly In Love from Hard Candy
The Matte top coat I used is only a couple bucks and can be found at Wal-Mart. I have been loving Hard Candy nail stuff lately. If you don't have a matte top coat, you must seal it with at least a gloss top coat. If you have no top coat, the glitter will fall off of all your nail's by the end of the day. I just really love the look of it with the matte top coat. It's how you turn glitter into confetti.

It's only been a week, but I swear I feel guilty when I don't blog! I feel as if I am not being creative or something. There has been Instagram though. And I still have been photographing. I signed up for a newsletter on tips for using a DSLR. I think I am going to do a photo-a-day challenge. This one looks really fun.  Anyone else down? Anyway's

I hope your having a great week!

some new blog post's/videos coming up:
Favorite Meal Bars
B+BW Candles
Get Tan {I will need to come up with a much wittier name. I probably won't though}
Curly Hair, Don't Care
OOTD's from the Wedding {maybe even the brides 2 outfits!}
Favorite Nude Pink Lipsticks
The GIVE-AWAY!

Ulta Haul and Mini Review's

When Ulta was having their %20 off everything in the store, I decided to try some higher end stuff. There was some stuff I needed, a setting spray and primers, but the other stuff it came with were perks! Here's the stuff I got.
❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤

Tarte Prime Shine and Define Kit: $12
It came with 3 mini products.

The Clean Slate Poreless Perfecting Primer
This was a product I needed. I bought the ELF face primer and found it did nothing. This primer is much thicker and really does cover up my pores. I apply it to my cheek area where I have large pores, and it seems to really smooth them out, especially after I add foundation on top of it. You can tell the places you put the primer and the places you didn't. It looks flawless.

Amazonian Clay BB Illuminating Moisturizer
I have never tried another BB cream before. I like coverage. The summer is coming and I sometimes don't even wear foundation at all in the summer. It's too heavy. I have tried this once, and I find it more or less evens out my face, but doesn't give me coverage. It does have an illuminating factor to it. There is a slight pearlesent finish. If you have ever tried the Nuxe Dry Oil, I would say the sheen of both of them are similar. The Nuxe Dry Oil is a little more shimmering. This BB Cream is less noticeable. I will not need any highlighter when I use this either. I think this will be perfect for the summer months. Or when I don't feel like wearing makeup.

Gifted Amazonian Clay Smart Mascara
If you are looking for a natural mascara, you have found it. It's more of a wet mascara and the brush is the old school type of brush, which doesn't bother me. I just wish I got a little more volume and length with it. The good side of that is that it doesn't get all clumpy. It separates more than anything and if I am giving it some credit, it does lengthen, a little bit. Nothing compares to my Mally's Volumizing Mascara these days and this didn't hold a candle to it.

 ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤

Urban Decay De-Slick Makeup Setting Spray $14
This was already a Holy Grail. {p.s., I need to update my Holy Grail page bad} Even though my skin is combination. Sometimes dry, other times oily, acne prone skin. I like De-Slick better than All-Nighter because it keeps my makeup in place in the summer humidity and heat. It's really a miracle worker. It has a slight tackiness to it when it dries, almost like a hair spray. But not as severe and sticky as a hair spray. They changed the packaging of this. I like it quite well. I just bought the travel size because it was cheaper. It will probably last me all through the summer. Check Hautelook because they sometimes have these setting sprays on sale. That's what I'm waiting for.

❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤

Too Faced Ready. Set. Prime.
This set came with 2 eye primers. I was all out of my ELF Eye Primer, which I really do love.

Shadow Insurance
Catchy name. I like it. I hear people compare this one to Urban Decay's eye primer and I would say they are similar. How different can an eye shadow primer really get though? This is the thickest eye primer I have ever used. Not that it's too thick and hard to work with. It has a silky feeling to it. It applies nicely and works well. I apply this under my eyes too before I use concealer. I like an eye shadow primer as long as it keeps my shadow {and concealer} in place and also gives vibrancy to my eye shadow. This one is great for that. As is Urban Decay's. And ELF's.

Candlelight
Another eyeshadow primer but it has a pearlesent finish. It has the same consistency as Shadow Insurance. I have yet to really use this in full but I have dreams of using this alone for a simple wash of sheen, under a matte eye shadow to play with a unique finish, using it under my eyes before concealer to brighten without using anything like an illuminating concealer.

101 Basic Blogging Tips + Ideas: Marketing, Content, Photography, HTML, + Growing Your Blog

Today I have a different type of blog post. I have been blogging here on Mind Body Beauty {formerly Meet Makeup} since January of 2011 and even though I am not a professional, I realize I know a lot more than someone who has been blogging for only a couple months, maybe. I wish I would have come across something like this when I first started out, so I really wanted to do something like this for the newbies out there. This post isn't only for beauty bloggers, although some things are specific considering I am a beauty blogger. Feel free to take what you need and leave the rest.

everything is linked. Anything I talk about, just click on the link and it will take you to the article/tutorial. whatever.

Content:
This is what I have always loved -and known- about blogging. I love coming up with different ways to write and thinking up different series', styles, and ideas. Here's some tips for inspiration and management.

1. Manage your time. Manage your week. I write down a weekly plan every week that includes everything I do in my life, including blogging.

2. I divide the blogging categories in my weekly plan into 3 parts: Picutres, Write, + Publish. Feel free to schedule time in there to reply to comments, go to blog hops, tweet, pin and re-pin and all of that. I don't but if you are even more micro-managed then me, go for it!

3. Write all of your blog post's for the week, then publish them on the day you wish. It helps me.

4. Re-read your blog post's before you publish them. Make sure your links are there and correct.

5. When choosing a name for your blog post, pick something that draws interest. This one is always hard for me. Make people want to click!

6. Get inspired. Pinterest, Tumblr, other blogs, whatever.

7. I have been loving Elle Sees lately for ideas. She has really great content.

8. Kiss and Makeup {Jacenda Leeann} has been one of my favorites since I started blogging.

9. P.S. It's Vida ,   The Beauty MilkPink Pistachio.   Check out my Blog Love Page.

10. How about Undressed Skeleton? She is a health blog but also is coming up with some great ideas for blog post's.

11. I loved what Jayme and Mendi did with their blog post of instagram pictures of every outfit.
12. Start a TAG! I have been in the process of creating a Fashion tag. I created it last year but never got around to publishing it. So I need to work on it. look out for that!

13. FOTD, {face of the day} OOTD,{outfit of the day} NOTW {nail of the week}WIAW {what i ate wednesday} WIWW {what I wore wednesday}Friday's Fancies

14. Do a Summer Series: Fashion, Pool Essentials, Healthy Treats, Wishlist, whatever!

15. Favorite ____{fill in the blank}___ nail polishes. {glitter, pastels}

16. Favorite ___{fill in the blank}___ lipsticks {nude pinks, mattes}

17. I also have a Blog Love page. Those are the blogs I love and get inspired by

Social Networking + Marketing:
This is one of my favorite things about blogging! It's fun for me to come up with different ways to get my blog out there, then see how effective it actually is. Finding different platforms and being creative about each platform- they all have different fun things you can do (ex: on Lauren Conrads you can post recipes.) Read on.

18. Pick a url that resonates with you and your content. You can change it later on if you want, but then you run the risk of people knowing of your former url and not your new one. Although, I changed mine from Meet Makeup to Mind Body Beauty and I would say it went pretty smooth.

19. Create a twitter account for your blog {I am @MeetMissJackson}

20. Tweet about your blog post!

21. Tweet/Reply/Retweet other bloggers

22. There's a great #hashtag us beauty bloggers like to use on twitter when referring to our blog: #bbloggers

23. There are other great #hashtags that I have used before to link my blog: #jadorlavie is a good one to tweet out positivity.

24. Make up your own #hashtag

25. Create a Pinterest account

27. Pin every picture you blog about, linking back to the actual blog post {I get a ton of views from Pinterest!}

28. In the description of your Pinterest, write something helpful/informative about the picture/subject.

29. Join Blog Lovin

30. Put a Blog Lovin Button in your sidebar

31. Join Beautylish

32. Put the Beautylish button in your sidebar

33. Upload pictures/videos to Beautylish.

54. Create a Blog Button

55. Do button swaps with other bloggers you like

Pictures + Look of Your Blog:
No wait, this one's my favorite! As you may know, I got a new camera and I am still figuring that one out, and I have a few tips for point and shoot cameras. As you start picking up little things and ways to do things, it gets easier with this category and really gets funner and funner {.....?}

56. Make sure your camera is on macro mode. That is the little flower in the corner.

57. Make sure your ISO is on 80. The higher it is, the more noise you will see in the picture. It will look grainy

58. Take a million pictures

59. Always film/photograph in the daylight.

60. Place subject of interest {weather that be a video or photos} near a window to take a photo. With the window behind you, take the picture.

61. Make sure your not blocking the light.

62. Don't photograph while there is straight up sunlight directly on subject. You want the light to be coming in, yes, but you don't want the sunlight directly on subject

63. If you have a DSLR camera, read the manual

64. Edible Perspectives is my girl for any photography stuff. She also has really great healthy food.

65. A Beautiful Mess as another good blog for photography.

66. Download Gimp if you don't have Photoshop. I have been using Gimp for years and it is totally free. It's great for watermarking, editing photos, creating headers, buttons, etc. And collages too (: I have had 0 problems with Gimp.

68. Free Pretty Things For You.com

69. Give your blog a face lift from time to time. Weather you create your own header on Gimp or change the layout. I think of it as a new hair color or wardrobe. Changing it up gets me exited.

70. Remember Jacenda Leeann? She creates blog layouts and all that

71. From Inside My Closet is great at buttons and banners

72. Match your picture background with your actual blog. Example: I usually take all of my pictures of everything on a lilac desk I have. I made some of the words on my blog that purple color.

73. Wonder Forest has a fun newsletter for this stuff too.

74. Photos are not really everything. Some of my favorite blogs dont have the best pictures. Doing unique tutorials, DIY's, etc. is great for a blog. Just blogging from the heart is really attractive in itself

75. Try your hand at HTML. If you want your blog wider, you want your sidebar to be aligned, blah blah blah. I takes a minute to find a good tutorial but when you do, you will be happy with the way your blog will turn out. Exactly the way you wanted it. Everything you see on my blog, I taught myself.

Comments:
77. read your comments on your blog

78. reply to your comments on your blog

79. If someone leaves a comment on your blog, comment back.

80. Go a step further and comment back on their blog.

81. Every comment you publish on someone else's blog should be thoughtful and reflect the subject they are talking about. Never go to someones blog and ask if they will follow you.

82. Always leave your blog url on any site you comment on. You don't have to be obnoxious about it, just type it out at the end.

83. if your getting spammed, set the security code for people to publish comments on your blog. That is the only reason I set mine like that. Otherwise, I hate those.
84. If your on a blog that is writing something that is relevant to a blog post you have done, tell them in the comments. That's how you get people to come over.

Other Ideas:
